And yes I can be a bit dramatic because I really want this program to get a shot in regionals. I think they have earned it.

This isn’t the end of the road. Win tomorrow. Win against WIU to hold steady in the RPI. Take 2 out of 3 at Maryland to gain ~25 points in the RPI and were right back in the mid 50s and in a regional.
This is our toughest remaining game.

It's the dreaded mid-week game against a try-hard MVC opponnent with a try-hard coach that has a Pat Fitzgerald-esque hard-on for beating Iowa.

2. Unlike last year we can improve our RPI vs Maryland. Last year after NW we lost spots just by playing PSU despite a sweep.

I also find it pretty incredible our RPI dropped more spots after a loss to UCI than MSU.
Wow. 3.5 hours ago we were 26 points out of 57th in the RPI. Now we’re 44 points out and 26 points only gets us to 63rd.

Tough game to watch yesterday. Baumann didn’t have it. Not even close. Can’t work hitters falling behind time after time after time. Lousy hitters become good hitters if they know the pitcher had to throw a 89-90 mph fastball over the plate.
MSU’s starter worked ahead in counts. Made all the difference in the world.

Baumann has really been pitching above and beyond what his season numbers said he was the last 3 weeks or so. Got some breaks to get out of jams. Finally caught up with him yesterday unfortunately.
Obviously Iowa needs a W today. Guys like Boe and Whelan have been a part of some really great things for Iowa Baseball. You know they don’t want to lose their last one at Banks.
MSU pitcher is averaging about 10 pick off attempts per inning. Drives me effing crazy.

Relief pitching is atrocious. Should have let Judkins go as long as possible and then Leonard to finish.
Yeah that was why yesterday was a big loss cause it just made this game that much more important with a win yesterday a lost today would have been ok cause they needed 2 of 3
We don’t have a conference tournament spot locked up yet either and Maryland will be playing for one next weekend.
As an Iowa fan though we should be used to this type of thing when something worthwhile is on the line.
