Anyone think Young could've ridden him out for the RT point and won in OT?
DeLaRiva scored 10 points on 0 shots. He wrestles like Joey Delgado. Guy gets his leg and he goes upside down and holds on hoping for an opening.
Young looked like he had a TD and winds up on his back for 6. He was by far the better wrestler for the rest of the match
This. IMar is a two time champ for a reason (and probably on his way to 4). Marinelli did great for a true freshman. Awesome future ahead for him.
I'm curious to see Vincenzo Joseph vs Marinelli/Young, I really think those would be some wild, wide open matches. Hope it happens, stay healthy Hawks or maybe I should say get healthy for some good Big Ten action. We'd all like to see Cory Clark
I don't want to see any of our top recruits get majored by anybody, but IMart is a beast, great at everything. Now Marinelli has a taste of what it's like to wrestle someone of that caliber, and what he needs to get better at to hang a little better.
Brooks looked like he looks when he is flat. Jackson knew exactly how to wrestle him and it worked.
If brooks wrestles anywhere near what we just saw he will not be on the podium in March.
Brooks in on the leg couple times, can't finish, then gets hit with a counter from Jackson to give up the TD.

Brooks struggles to finish takedowns on good athletes. Nothing surprising there
Brooks wrestles like that at Big 10s and he won't be at Nationals.
Brooks pissed me off big time there. He had him in front head a few times and did nothing with it. He waited until too late in the period to take shots and time ran out. He let Jackson lolly gag around the mat at his preferred pace and then let Jackson counter him for the late win. Jackson could not have drawn it up any better.
Jackson took more shots than Sammy, but he never got close to scoring. I thought Sammy was going to spin around and score, but it didn't happen. Jackson must have the length to keep Sammy from getting behind. Jackson never got in on a good shot. Sammy got in on 2 of them.
+1 pathetic match. It's these matches over the last five years that are keeping Iowa from the top. Pathetic pathetic pathetic.
I think those 74 pounders moving up to 84 are learning a hard and fast lesson. They look small to me. I thought Jackson looked about half Samy's size. IT will be interesting in March. That is for sure.
Brooks seems to shut down a bit if he can't get to his offense. Jackson's length makes him difficult to wrestle and he uses it to his advantage well. Brooks will need to bring a better game to make the podium, but he will still score some points for Iowa regardless. 184 is deep...
He needs to try a new takedown technique - the head between the guys legs into a figure four leg lock around your neck is not working so well. Maybe try a head to the outside - or some ankle picks. Maybe a bull rush in all of a sudden and pick an ankle as the guys loses balance. IDK
Nice first for stoll he looked good but can someone tell me what that takedown move was, looked like let me push you and cover.
