Midlands Pre-seeds

I will be watching because I am a wrestling diehard, but I don't remember a Midlands with less marque match ups.

Really underwhelming but the biggest benefit of watching will be to see how the younger guys on our team do and it should provide us with the best gauge to date to see what chance they will have come March.

I'll look forward to seeing how Marinelli/Gunther end up.
How does Kemerer fair against Tsirtsis and others in the top 20.
See how well Stoll recovered.
See if Wilcke can beat some ranked opponents.
Carton will have plenty of tough matches to test his ability.

To me, at this tournament, these are more important to me than watching some big matches with other ranked guys.

Mmmm.. I thought it was a plaque, but I do remember thinking that was very considerate of them to put a trash can within @ 30 feet of the medals stand so Terry could storm over and slam it.. it was epic...
Well if they put a plaque around your neck you are correct.

If you are watching it as strictly a Hawkeye fan, I completely agree. I have just grown accustomed to watching this tournament as a primer to what guys will be wrestling in the quarterfinals or semis in March. This is the first year I can ever remember where only a couple of weights have that type of firepower.

Last year wasn't much different. It's a really good tournament with depth at a lot of weights but not a lot of 1 vs 2 types. Clark's injury is a factor there.

I believe that guy is a 3 timer in DIII already and going for his 4th so he must have some talent. Never seen him wrestle though.
He has a victory over Studebaker already this season. He's tough. I watched him win his first d3 title live, had an undefeated season.

Begs the question can he become an undefeated 4 timer? I am not sure of his overall record.

I don't think so, he has wrestled at Midlands and taken losses his SO and JR seasons. And I'm pretty sure they count on his official record, even though he is DIII.
