Miller Moss to Iowa? The Transfer Portal window opens on Dec 9 for 20 days. "You're gonna have a lot of million-dollar Quarterbacks."

What QB in their right mind would come to IC other than for a paycheck?

Lester is demonstrating his intended change. The right candidate for his intended system, with some dough, would yield some possibilities.

Lester showed in the last game he is willing to throw down field. It just sucks that Sully turned the ball over 3 times. The defense played like crap, too, and we still only lost by 3.

Serious question: what is Iowa's budget for a transfer portal QB? Do we have boosters that will pay a million bucks? Fook, I can't believe I just typed that and this is FBS football today.

Ohio state will have someone enter. Who else is so stacked at QB that they will have attrition? Ty Thompson who went to Tulane wil prolly enter again. Oregon prolly has some decent back-ups. Sullivan is a good option next year I think. Looks to have all the ability, just needs work.
Spend the money on the Lines, CB, let the big dogs throw tons of money away. Then get some good small school guys after that. Honestly how long can these schools keep throwing 20 million a year and still end up not winning a championship??? Something will give.

If Ty Thompson can’t win the job at Tulane I’m inclined to pass on him.

If I was ridiculously wealthy, hell yeah I would do it and make you all buy me a beer.

What confounds me in the Mich State game and UCLA game was we were not the most physical team on the field for either one. And when we don't play physical for some reason it seems the entire team plays that way.

The fans will be the ones leaving. Whennthe costs continue to get passed to them to "buy" players, fans enthusiasm will wane.

Three turnovers is three turnovers. I get it. In reality, however, the stripped ball he was holding on with two hands and the guy just pulled it out and the one interception was a forced throw while getting sacked that he should have just eaten. I don’t think it was as bad as the stats show, IMO.

I think the funny thing is that after I write that and reflect, it shows how poor our qb performance has been for the last 6 years.

In reality, Sully had 3 turnovers in a 3 point game. Very poor performance. First job as a QB, protect the ball. He'll get better. At least he's not Deacon.

Lester has been better than I could have hoped for imo. He seems to have a pretty clear vision of what he wants and the progress he has made overall has been outstanding. I personally think Sullivan should be the starter for the rest of the year and probably the leader for next year. He didn't have a great game last Friday but it wasn't all on him.

Iowa doesn’t need a million dollar quarterback to be successful. They need playmakers at wide receiver who will make a $250,000 quarterback look like a million bucks. Sullivan could be that quarterback. Get some speed and playmaking ability at wide receiver, and the passing game will be serviceable enough.

Iowa’s biggest need on offense is OL. They need to spend there. Wide receivers should be priority #2.

Iowa’s secondary is terrible. They need to bring in much better talent there. And for the love of god, does Ferentz have some unwritten rule that one safety position needs to be saved for a walk-on Iowa kid? Jesus.

We are losing a lot at linebacker. That will also have to be addressed via the portal.

that NIL money needs to go to an OT, CB, and DL. Go the FCS route and look for a solid potential starter or backup and plan to use B. Sully/Marco as your QBs next year.

He looked good throwing to Jacob Gill. Sadly, Gill is about the only reliable receiver on the team right now. That has to be addressed in the portal. I am more than comfortable with Sullivan leading the offense for the rest of this season and next. Get him some playmakers to throw to.

Lester is competent and will do fine with the offense once he has some more tools to work with. Kirk just needs to get the **** out of the way.

Based on yesterday's news conference, it seems clear Lester is deciding who QB1 is.

Why do I say that?

* Lester said you can't turn the ball over like that (Sully had 3 turnovers)

* He said he would let Cade and Sully compete for the starting spot if both were healthy

Lester inherited a mess.

Thankfully, Iowa should look a bit more attractive to WRs at this point in comparison to last year. They also need to develop the youth that is presently here. Vanderzee Buie, Howard, even KJ Parker had some notes in spring. I wonder if Mota will end up moving to the defensive side.

The mystery of this team has been the OL. Elite one week and then look lost the next.

I like what I have seen from the young guys. Vander Zee obviously, but Howard and Buie have had moments.

^^^ I really agree with this that Sully should start if healthy ENOUGH. He is throwing the ball fine, his running off the zone read option and threat to run is big for our run game, he needs to improve his decision making and throw the ball away more often, and I think Stratton should be ahead of Cade the way he threw the ball. Cade is not 2021 Cade but he is there as an emergency right now to me.

Yeah, look how well his concentrating on the bowl game worked last year.

Pinstripe Bowl preparation will only be a excuse for poor portal recruiting and lack of change of coaching staff....
But this year he’ll be working on putting something on the scoreboard, even if it’s only a safety. That will require his full attention, so next year’s team will just have to wait.

We all agree that speed, size and great hands at WR are a must. Most of our WR problem is downfield threat and being able to create separation. Speed helps there.

We haven't been able to run easy, high percentage comeback patterns for 5-6 years. Remember when Smith-Marsette and Brandon Smith iirc could threaten downfield, break down stop, and come back for a easy, wide open 7 yard catch?

It is a basic pattern yet we cant throw it because the other teams Dbacks dont get turned and Kirk is afraid to the picks and I dont blame him.

I wouldnt care if they found a couple of speedster track guys and drilled them on catching and route running

Not every game is the blocking going to look great when the opponent has 7-8 fast athletic defenders in the box including that really good 330 lb DTackle that ucla had.

If the passing game is even 20% better next year it will help the running game but 40% better around 200 yards per game would be great, and 200 yards per game is not asking much.

Need a really good 1st down passing team that can loosen and back off the defense

Because average QBs work so well in the NFL too. If you have an average QB you have an average team at best.
