Milwaukee PDs finest

Your unwavering support of all cops, especially the dirty/incompetent ones, is disturbing.

I take it you have family/friends in law enforcement?

The crowd supporting the defunding of police look smarter every day.
Just think criminal reform vs police reform should be the focus.

Where was that in the video?Missed it.

I dont believe the shot was captured on video, I read a few articles

This is the headline of the article I read from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Milwaukee police fatally shot a man who was fleeing with a gun, Chief Norman says; video appears to show officers drag the unresponsive man

From the article

The chase ended when the driver ran a red light in the 9100 block of West Silver Spring Drive and struck another vehicle, Norman said.

The driver of the suspected vehicle then ran away with a gun in his hand, Norman said.

“During the foot pursuit, the suspect possessed a handgun and continued fleeing with a gun in his hand," Norman said. "The officer gave the suspect several commands to drop the gun and the officer discharged his firearm striking the suspect.”

Wisconsin is an open carry state, too.

Every last one is this group appears broken. Same for Uvalde. Same for Memphis. Same for George Floyd. Multiple officers were on the scene in each one. All of them failed in their duties.
So that's what? 20? 40? 60? So take 60 divided by 61 million. What's that percentage come to?

So what happens if the guy gets out of the car and keeps running with the gun in his hand, the officers end the pursuit without stopping the guy, and the guy then goes on to shoot and kill an innocent person with said gun? The officers are up sh!t creek because they let the guy escape and kill someone.

Now, let’s say the guy is laying on the ground with his gun nearby. The officers don’t know whether he’s alive or dead, but they know he has a gun. They order the guy to put his hands out so they can see them. The guy doesn’t respond, so the officer’s approach carefully. They see the guy’s gun near his body, but the guy is unresponsive, and they don’t know whether or not it’s because he’s dead or he’s planning to make a move for his gun to shoot at the officers. So, the officers drag him away from the gun to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Seriously, being a cop anymore is such a thankless job. So many armchair quarterbacks rooting for the criminals. (And yes, I know there are plenty of bad cops in this world.)

Much of the problem is that before body cams/cell phones, everyone thought bad cops were the rare exception.

Seems it's more than a random issue and it's more common than many care to admit.

They think he might be lethal so drag him around by one ankle?

To be fair, I can go to a restaurant and call out shitty food/service if I get it. Doesn't mean I want to go be a chef.
Not too many chefs get shot at.

Unfortunately cops see and deal with pieces of shit on a daily basis in some areas. They see things I can’t imagine. It has to take a toll on them mentally.

But I am guessing these people were the bullies in high school and never changed. It can’t be in no way that the profession changes them and causes them to be desensitized, maybe losing some empathy they once had.

But hey, the chef analogy was spot on. Chefs are in life and death situations on a daily basis.

But hey, condemn cops. But if you do so, condemn the politicians many of you worship and follow( not saying you in particular), as they are FAR more dirty and corrupt than even the shittiest of shitty cops can dream of

I like hawkman98 so I hope he doesn't take this personal. But LEO has shown they can't police themselves.

My solution would include an accountably board in every jurisdiction.

Personally, I'd fire every one of them
I don't take it personally and I agree with most of the common citizen's reactions. Especially the Colrado one I just watched. Woof, this shit is getting bad and it's going to get worse before it gets better.

The one negative is I'm so afraid of defending myself and making a mistake that it's almost going to take me getting shot first before feeling comfortable in returning fire. And that's a dangerous way to think.

Do you think that might have something to do with the police being public servants with the power to legally end life?

With great power comes great responsibility...and hopefully a strong enough character to be able to take elevated criticism.

I agree with you in all aspects but you cannot downplay the fact it’s a thankless profession. Your every move is under constant scrutiny and society as a whole only focuses on the bad officers.

If a cop or cops **** they should be charge and brought to justice. I just think we should focus on all the GOOD cops do vs the bad since that’s all we seem to see.

I was simply stating it’s possible to know when someone is doing a shitty job without knowing how to do their job. That’s all. Nobody can argue that there’s not some REALLY shitty cops out there. Just like other occupations. However, cops are in a position where they can take a life. And sometimes they do it for no reason.

I don't think that perspective is accurate. There is quite a lot of support for law enforcement in the US. They even have their own merch table.

Our country is out of ****ing control
Does the US have some bad cops....yes. Are the majority good people who simply want to protect and serve...I believe the answer is also yes. We need to do a MUCH better job of screening our law enforcement and we also need better training for the new people coming on board. But, for the life of me, what I can't understand is how many people are not pointing out that this person put other citizens in jeopardy by RUNNING from the police in the first place. If I run a red light or get caught speeding and the cops want me to stop, I am STOPPING! The underlying issue is that many people are choosing to run and, oh by the way, grab a gun as well. Come on. This guy could have killed someone while he was on the run in his car or on foot. They did drag his body about 4 feet. Not a good look....but he had a gun and could have been playing possum until they got closer. They wouldn't know. And, BTW wasn't a Milwaukee Police Officer just killed in the last week or so?

It’s hard to say someone is doing a shitty job when a person has not done that job, isn’t well versed on demands of job and has an incomplete picture of event questioned

The way person was dragged appears horrid, but I don’t know if there was a reason for moving him so abruptly.

I agree cops should be throughly trained and screened, no doubt. Hell they should have to require a freaking degree. However at this point arnt police applications down across the country? It’s hard to screen for good police when they don’t apply

I have no idea what the applications look like across the country....I only know I would not want that job at this point.

If your home is burglarized, if you are attacked in a road rage incident, if a family member is in imminant danger, will you contact your local law enforcement?

You're the one off the rails defending cops dragging a dead body around like a Halloween prop. But please, explain how any of this was good police work.
Please go try and be a cop then talk your stupid crap on here. Please!

For starters they don't know if he is dead or not. Secondly, they don't know if he has a gun or not. You put your life at risk in those situations and it changes how you look at everything. You of course, have zero clue about that as you are a keyboard warrior.
