I think everyone is underestimating how well they will do. I think they both outperform Missouri and Ohio State. That is even with only 8 wrestlers. I will leave us out and compare Minnesota vs the other 2 teams.

133
Dardanes 1-2, Synon NP, DiJulius 5-NP, Clark 1-6

141
Dardanes 2-6, Mayes 3-6, Stieber 1, Dziewa 5-NP

149
MINN NQ, Houdashelt 3-5, Stieber NP, Sorensen 1-6

157
Ness 2-4, LaVallee 5-NP, Demas 5-NP, Kelly NP

165
MINN NQ, England NP, Jordan 3-6, Moore NP

174
Storley 2-4, Eblen 5-NP, Martin NP, Evans 3-4

Pfarr 7-NP, Miklus NP, Courts NP, Brooks 5-8

197
Schiller 3-5, Cox 1-2, Snyder 3-4, Burak 5-8

I thought Kroells wrestled really well at B1Gs.

Is Lawson going to be able to go?

Three keys matches that impact MN's chances.

Mayes vs Dardanes
Snyder vs Schiller
Evans vs Storley

We win all three, we are looking good. We win 2/3 we are in it. 1/3 or less and I think we are fighting for 2nd-4th place

Doesn't help that Dardanes has to go through a meat grinder at 133, tough match every round.

Overall I like where we sit. A lot of opportunity for the guys.

Other than fab five, Minny doesn't have much to offer. Plus Dardanes at 141 looks banged up/hurt.

Pfarr is set up nicely in the bracket. Lost to Zillmer 3 times this year twice in OT and once in last 15 seconds. Capable I getting that one. Stauffer is the guy out of te top seed u want to meet in qtrs. a semi trip wouldn't surprise me, a 2-2 weekend wouldn't surprise.

Kroells after a loss to Lawson will run into potentially a combo of these guys Black/Tavenello/Knutson to get to round of 12. (He has beaten all three at some point) he runs into loser of Coon/Telford in R12 most likely.

Not the easiest draws but definitely more than capable draws. An upset here or there and ya never know.

I feel the same way Minnesota is the biggest threat to win it all.

For any interested. This is a Schrupp Video where Both Dardanes, Schiller, Storley and Kroells discuss the difficulties and opportunities involved at the national tournament.

would love to be wrong, but I just don't see Kroells overcoming Lawson's size and ability. I am also under the assumption that Lawson FFT at BIG was not due to a serious injury. If Lawson's is dinged up then I like the matchup more. Would Kroells likely meet Mellon in R12 if he beats Lawson? I know Kroells has lost to Mellon b4, but has he ever beat him?

Given the above breakdown, I would say Iowa is the biggest threat to win.

Penn State is winning the title. 3 champs 3 AA's

Minnesota is the biggest threat for 2nd.

1. PSU

2. Minn

3. Osu

4. Iowa
