Missing Georgia Tech student. Something seems odd

Missing since Friday, found Monday, alive but badly injured. Hope the kid recovers.

What I find odd though, he's mugged and everything is missing from him, wallet and phone both listed as gone. But the same article says he was found because another student claims he had her phone and they used the find my phone app to figure out where he was. So.... the muggers didn't steal her phone along with his shoes, wallet, and phone? And why did it take the entire weekend for this girl to remember he had her phone and use the find my phone app? I'm not a college coed and I can't go 10 minutes without checking my phone, find it difficult to believe she was without her phone since Friday and on Monday went "hey, that kid that's missing has my phone, I should use the find my phone app now".

That linked article says Emma is the one that left the phone in his pocket, but it might be another girl.

Emma Jeffery, a former South Forsyth High School classmate of Hubert, told 11Alive's Donna Lowry that Hubert had left a formal party prior to going missing. His date at the dance had left her phone in his jacket. Jeffery and others used the "Find my iPhone" app to track down Hubert, who they found face-down on the ground near railroad tracks at -- nearly 7 miles from where he left the party.

better reporting on other sites say the app used a last ping and they began searching the area. So they could tell an area but since it was off they couldnt' walk right to it. And the search did go on all weekend so, hopefully, there isn't more to the story other than an unfortunate kid got jumped.

I would be surprised if mom is right that drugs and alcohol weren't involved but, she knows her kid better than I do.

It might be able to track where the phone has been. So if he was beaten and the phone taken, it would still show that it was at the spot where they found him at some point. I use Seekdroid for Andfroid, but don't pay for the tracking feature.

yep. One of those you kinda want to follow because something seems a bit off. I remember when a girl in Madison went missing and after a couple day search she came wandering out of a marshy area, still partially bound with duct tape, and out of sorts. Something about the story just didn't seem right as I listened to it being reported on radio. Sure enough turns out she had been dumped, was lonely at college, and decided to fake an abduction to get some attention for herself.

Now, not saying this kid is faking it, got the hell kicked out of him it sounds like. But something about the story seems off, or that's not being completely told

My guess is he was using either or both drugs/alcohol, and something happened either on his train or once he got off the train. Whether he popped off to the wrong person/people, or whether he was targeted for some random reason, who knows?
