Iowa CANNOT afford to overlook Rutgers. I always feel uneasy about going on the road in the B1G. Remember they did beat Wisconsin at home last year.
I know where they WILL beat us.....more students at the game.
Yeah they beat Wisky without Kaminsky and I think one other guy. When we lose Uthoff I'll be concerned. Until then, naw.
I think we could beat them even if four of our five starters didn't even suit up. As for TV Teddy, I thought he called a pretty fair game in the MSU Wisconsin game. Maybe even hosed MSU out of a few calls.Rutgers is clearly the worst team in the B1G, but road games can be more interesting than they should be. Early foul trouble for a couple of key players, and the game suddenly gets much more even. We still haven't seen our first game with our old buddy Teddy V, who might be worth 15-20 points for the other team.
The real question is how much will just playing them hurt our RPI.
We're currently 8th and RU is an UNFATHOMABLE 241. Like, how is that even possible?
Rutgers lost at home to Purdue by 50 last night. They are awful.
But it's true - no nights off in the Big Ten. You've still gotta show up and be ready to play. Don't want to let that team hang around and gain confidence as the game goes on.
Freeman is out for the year and Lewis is injured and will be limited in minutes. Their short lineup got shorter.Their tallest players in order:
Shaquille Doorson 6-11 sophomore, hasn't played this year - out with a foot injury
Ibrahima Diallo 6-10 RS freshman, out with a foot injury
Greg Lewis 6-9 RS senior, 20 minutes/gm
DJ Foreman 6-8 sophomore, 25 minutes/gm
Deshawn Freeman 6-7 junior, 28 minutes/gm
Jonathan Laurent 6-6 freshman, 19 minutes/gm
Everyone else is 6-4 or smaller.
These guys are too small to defend Iowa. Uthoff could just take contested 3s the entire game and we'd probably win.
There are no words to describe the mess that is Rutgers round ball. With all their problems this season, it's really sad that they have to continue to be mauled every night out. I've been associated with teams like that, and it's pretty miserable knowing there's no way in the world you can compete. I hope Rutgers is bringing in lots of money to the conference, because its addition has been a huge disaster in every other respect.
Well, we know they're taking a lot of money from the conference. Being allowed to join the Big Ten was a financial windfall for them and in return, they add disgraced players and coaches and, allegedly, a nebulous number of television viewers on the East Coast. You just have to wonder, with all the sports on TV these days, why anyone but a die-hard Rutgers grad would tune in to watch that mess.
