Trump likes any project where someone else does the work and he can take credit. Also, it appears Trump is now obsessed with "cuts" just like he's obsessed with "deals* and "ratings", and he wants to stack up as many of them as he can as a mark of success.

I actually think he's fine with Musk doing this and if a time comes he no longer wants or needs him he will throw him under the bus and say he hardly knew him or something along those lines. Now, if Musk would begin a feud that could be fun to watch.

I don't think Trump does much. I think the Project 25 circle does most of the work and he shows up for the EO signing or press conference. That said, Musk is out doing this at their direction. The moment it goes bad he will toss him under the bus so fast. It's been his move each time.

Actually a Trump/Musk falling out would be entertaining AF to watch. It would be the social media flame war to end all flame wars.
