Because we need another thread here.

I get the feeling he wants to get away from IC which is fine but is probably the reason so many people are freaking out since he is a local kid. With that said, he looks to be a good prospect but after watching a lot of film he looks like he is lacking quick cut ability and overall speed to be an elite WR in college. Think he will be a good player but not sure he is going to make or break a class.

I met alot of kids in college that used that as the over riding reason for their college choice. They were about getting away more than anything else .
IMO in most cases it was getting away from parents

I went to high school in Iowa City and when I enrolled at the University of Iowa it felt like I was in a completely different town. The high school and college experience in Iowa City are nothing alike. My parents may have well been in another state. If that's the basis for his reasoning then he's making a mistake if he actually believes Ann Arbor will offer anything that Iowa City doesn't. They're both great towns.

Just heard from someone that talked to one of his classmates and apparently he hangs out with the wrong crowd. Just passing on.

Maybe he is thinking it would be great to get away, and mom and dad think it would be great for him to stay in Iowa City. Better for the family if he is a Hawk because of game accessibility. At this point, I really don't care where he chooses to go. This young man is not going to make or break the Hawkeyes recruiting class so if he wants to be a Hawkeye, he should commit, if not, then bon voyage and good luck with his decision.

So you heard from somebody who heard from somebody that talked to one of his classmates.....that sounds like it is credible enough to post (sarcasm)

It's tough to swallow your pride and he was obviously really hurt and offended when the Hawks didn't offer early. He's got other "bigger name" options now, and my GUESS is that he's fighting between sticking it to the Hawks and knowing deep down that it's likely the best fit for him.

I hope whatever decision he makes is the right one for him. I do compliment him on trying his best to thoughtfully go through his options and not make a media circus of the process. Juan Harris he is not. I expect his ultimate commit will mean something.

Frankly just from a talent point I'd like to have them both, but if their head isn't in the right place for the program then both are better off elsewhere and the Hawks will be better off as well. I'm hoping we get him, but the longer the decision drags out the less likely that will happen IMO.

My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.’

If your first paragraph has ANY truth to it, we don't want him. Period. I'm not saying I agree...

How do we know your brother isn't just jealous or maybe he's the one hanging with the wrong crowd. Can you really trust high school sources?

And he is VERY close to his parents. He should stay home for the sake of his mother.

And thanks for the much needed additional OM thread.

LOL I am just playing with you, but kinda serious at the same time. I mean that is a pretty nasty rumor to be starting considering you are hearing 3rd+ person
It's not a rumor, it's someone's observation. If message boards are too much for you to handle then I'm sorry. lol

You should be asking yourself that question, what ticks me off is when an adult comes on a message board and totally trashes a teenagers character from "hear say". There are multiple problems with your post
1) As I said he is what 17 years old, he not even i college
2) This rumor crap might be one of the reasons he wants to get away (which most of us don't want to happen
3) If it is not your direct observation then you shouldn't post it on a public message board (see #1)
4) What the hell does that even mean "he hangs out with the wrong people"???? That is so vague: Do they party to much? Maybe he has a "gay" friend and the person who made the observation is immature? Maybe he hangs out with non athletes and that is a problem for this person? I mean not we are interpreting you interpretation of somebody else observation
It is different starting a rumor about maybe where he is going from others observations/predictions, but to discredit his character (which is exactly what you are doing) from an observation not made by you personally.....should you even post that?? That is my question here

yawn!
Here's a thought: why not not just wait til he makes some kind of announcement. Martin is not going to make or break the program. If we land him=Great!
If not=Next man
Too much positive energy to waste on one recruit

Im simply recommending people chill a bit. Im not stressing every minute wondering if and when he commits. Apparently you didn't understand my point?
No I understood perfectly you are doing what you said should not go on.Carry on.

umm...ok bro. whatever you say. however allow me to retort: you mistaken me for someone who gives a rats ass if Martin commits or not! My life will go on just fine without worrying whether we land him or not. Me posting in this thread makes this no less the fact

Why haven't I heard about this kid until this year? Where was he last year? I watched 2 IC West games last year and don't ever remember hearing is name. You'd think if a kid was "THAT" good that he would of been a "star" for the past 3 years.

Where ever he goes, I hope he is happy and gets to play. Can't blame the kid for wanting out of the midwest.

My son graduated from West last year and had a good laugh when I told him about this post. Played baseball with Martin. He's pretty tight with Mccaffery. Is Mccaffery part of the wrong crowd? Martin's parents would kick his butt at any hint of trouble much like Fran would Connor. No way they would allow him to become another Dondre Alexander (West alum who had a ton of talent but going nowhere)No one knows outside the family where he's leaning. Younger sister is a world class swimmer and parents are already going to be stretched pretty thin between her meets and his games. Her HS swimming career is likely over. Fingers are crossed it's Iowa but won't be end of world if not.
