scores 10 points in 1st minute of round 1, then gathers the fall. He looks much bigger then when I last saw last him at super 32. He is wrestling 182 this weekend and It appears 174 in college may be behind him. He could have Max Lyon is quarters. Very interested to see how that goes.

Is he at flo nationals?

Brock Hardy from Utah was mentioned on here. I see he is at 145 in Jr. Folkstyle nats.

Just might be me but I was thinking Illinios had a pretty good crop of 182 and 195 lbrs.

Was hoping for better results as well. We really need depth/challengers at 174/184 and it would be nice if Wilson was going to exceed his ranking. Hopefully this was just a blip

Max Lyon downs Cameron Caffey 7-6 to head to the finals. Will face #9 Jack Jessen. Should be a good match.

Costello wins 1-0 to get into finals. The kid he beat in the semis was a Utah state champ. Glad to see him win and make it into the finals, but was really hoping he could open up a little and widen the score. Will have a very tough opponent in #5 and Junior Fargo runner up in Anthony Cassioippi. Should be a good test

Was really hoping Wilson would have preformed better. That sucked. But, like others said, maybe it was just an off day for him.

I don't see Wilson as overly athletic - more of a grinder imo. Looks to have slow feet from the film I have seen.

This is a heavyweight to watch (Anthony Cassioppi (Hononegah Wrestling Club / check results in the junior division). Although a verbal to Northwestern he is only a junior and could still be available. He and will compete/maybe defeat Gable Stevenson (?). Kid is a ton-of-talent, watch him.

Beat Gable...lol. Goodbye to your Credibility.

Absolutely it's ok to keep in contact and if TnT don't think so.... they better change their style yesterday

Unfortunately, I think TnT have too much integrity to recruit verbaled guys. Yea, Marinelli changed his mind but I think that was all him.
Giving a kid who is willing to listen options is what they should be doing. It's more fair to a kid for him to understand his options. Integrity has nothing to do with it. This is especially true when there are different percentages of scholly money offered and when circumstances change. If the Brands's are not trying to see which kids verballed to other programs are interested in listening, then they should be fired. So if we can't offer a kid much, so then he verbals somewhere else, but then something changes and money opens up, your saying we shouldn't try to check with him again?

Lyon is a stud. Supposedly got a full ride from Purdue. Hate to lose a nationally top kid from Iowa.

Ramos was alluding to that...that people need to change or get left behind. This was right after Teasdale went PSU

You think Iowa could have gotten him a 50/50 scholly being he is a top guy in the nation.
Top guy in the nation? He has had extremely mixed results against good wrestlers, and may or may not develop into anything down the road in college. He isn't any bigger of a recruit than Wilcke was out of high school, and he would likely sit behind him for two years in college. This isn't some type of big miss for Iowa.

So you think we're still recruiting Teasdale then...I hope so. Why not....
After hearing one of his interviews right before he flipped I think I would let him go. He was still committed to us and I was not really impressed with what he had to say and the maturity level that came across in the interview. JMO though. Obviously a extremely talented wrestler.

Uh, there's nothing wrong with recruiting a kid who has verballed. It is perfectly acceptable to recruit a kid until he tells you not to, or he signs an LOI.

I'm not sure TnT does a very good job staying in contact with kids who have verbally committed to Iowa let alone to other programs.

Wilson isn'T the type of wrestler that is going to help us catch PSU. Very limited in several aspects. These aren't the type of wrestlers that Iowa should be recruiting.

Lyon isn't the best kid in the nation, but he still would have been a very nice get. He's a projected 184 pounder, which is one of our needs and he looks to have a ton of potential. He took some tough losses last summer in freestyle but has also beaten a lot of good kids. He is only ranked #15 in the latest ASICS rankings but he has beaten the #9, #12, #13, and a very solid #4 Jelani Embree. I think his win over Embree shows the most of what his potential could be. So just to clarify, Lyon isn't the most sought after blue chip recruit, but he would have been a tough Iowa kid that would have been able to fill a future hole for this team.

My response was to the poster asking why we didn't just go 50:50. That would mean that we are giving a wrestler a 50% scholarship for 5 years, while his best case scenario is probably starting 2. On top of that, he isn't some type of slam dunk recruit to begin with. If we didn't have Wilcke, I would say do it but given our current situation, I'll pass. He's a mid level recruit that would be nice to have, but he is also the type of recruit that this fan base would cry about him not helping us catch Penn State.

Oh I gotcha. Thank you for clarifying, I focused more on getting Lyon more then the entire money side of it. That being said, I do really wish we would have snagged Lyon, but the way you broke down the scholly portion of it does make sense.

Stuck Costello, and either majored or fall everyone else on his way to the title. That should at least get your attention (???). Have you seen this kid (?), he is talented, watch him.

I have no doubt he's very good. Gable is different though. Gable would finish top 5 in D1 right now. He's not losing to a high school kid.
