N Dakota St took overtime to beat Charleston?

Our Orange Bowl team took 2 blocked field goals to beat a less talented UNI squad...pretty confident we will win,but NDST will make us nervous.

Gotta have respect for what ndsu has achieved over fairly long period. This game means little in the Iowa context.

You may not have been impressed with NDS but I was. If you think they can't move the ball against Iowa your crazy. The QB is as good as we'll face and maybe quicker than any we've faced in a long time. The thing that makes them tougher is they are coached as well as Iowa is.

Our dline will put pressure on them and by late 3rd quarter if he's still alive Easton will force a few passes and our stud secondary will be his recievers

I watched NDSU as well and was pretty impressed--especially considering it was their season opener. Solid team with a winning attitude that plays with a lot of heart. I'd be very surprised if Iowa doesn't have it's hands full in this one.

I don't even think the hawks will even think about them until after iowa state is handled.. But NDSU showed up when it counted against charleston...

NDST does tend to start slow under Klieman - however they got a long way to go if they're gonna even be a road cone on the Hawkeye Highway.

Not sure what game you were watching, because I disagree vehemently with pretty much everything you said. Their offense looked terrible. The offensive line was porous and the QB was nothing special (he will be one of the worst QB's Iowa faces this year, not the best). I would be shocked if NDSU musters anything more than 14-17 points against the Hawkeyes defense.

I believe we recruited Easton for a bit before cooling on him
They also gave RJ Urzendowski (NDST receiver and former teammate at Prep) a look. I actually think RJ would have been a pretty nice get. He made an instant impact with the Bison as a freshman, and while he doesn't have amazing speed, has a Vandeberg-esque knack for getting open and running great routes

I can't say that was overly impressed with NDSU either... BUT they got the job done against a school in their level.. I gotta believe that HAWKS will smash thou because they won't be over looking NDSU.. So I hope the hawks beat them badly! Very badly!

Yep. 7th in FCS

There have been some good Sagarin posts floating around (to the extent people put stock in Sagarin ratings) that show NDSU would have been about the 30-40th best team in all of college football over the last 5 years - note, that's HISTORY, not predictive of this year.

At any rate, I bet the difference between 1st in FCS and 7th in FCS is about 100 spots in the overall college football ranking landscape. That's just my guess, as others posted about UNI being in the 70th-80th spot in Sagarin.

Well, anyway, that's just history again - has no bearing on what happens 9/17. Put me down as expecting a win, but not an easy one. I'm guessing 27-17 type.

Pretty damn sanctimonious post for results from a first game.Did you post the same thing a few years ago after the UNI game.

OK, I'll back off on the 'sanctimonious' stuff. :)

ND State will be as tough an opponent as Iowa sees in the Non-conference part of the
schedule. They will be jacked-up and their fans travel well.

Should make for a cool College Football atmosphere on 9/17 in Kinnick

I would be somewhat worried if the game was in the dome but not worried since it's at Kinnick. They are close to unbeatable in FCS in the dome. When they get home throughout playoffs it's basically a give that they make it to the championship game.

Stick looked better in the second half. His most dangerous asset though is his ability to run. They don't look as good as the team I watched clobber ISU though. I think it will be a game where Iowa wears them down. I also noticed their D has trouble on the edges with speed. I think it could be a big game for Wadley.
