It's been said before but Lucy Olson seems so happy all the time. Great to see! I bet she's a fun person to be around.

I think there's a pretty big gap between the top 4 and the next best team, and then another huge gap between the 5-7 teams and the rest of the country.
Ugly win. And what's the deal having UNI announcers for a Big Ten Plus game? Horrible announcers and the "kid" doing the post-game interviews of Jan & Lucy looked and acted like a high school newspaper intern - not professional.
This team has some serious issues and not sure they do anything consistently good. Sloppy ball handling, really bad passers, no half-court offense, no fast breaks and only have two consistent shooters. Going to a tough BIG season. Hope I am wrong.
i thought Teagan played well in the first half (9 pts 5 rb) did she even play in the second? Waited too long to get Syd back in the game. And Ava didn’t get any minutes in the second half. I’m puzzled by the sub patterns. I though McCabe played her best game.
What was that, leave wide open shooters and throw dumb asses passes after dribbling into traps…yes we excelled at that.
As for comparing this to the MSU game, it was much worse. MSU is a legit top 20 team playing at home. This game wasn’t remotely the same.
Ava didn’t play very good in the first half in my opinion. McCabe by far played her best game, but for me, that’s more on Taylor. She’s wildly hit and miss.
Yeah, I don’t wanna pile on but in all honesty CC may just be the best passer in the world in women’s basketball and probably one of the absolute best ever at 22
I thought in the 1st half when Mallegni and Stremlow were on the court the offense had energy and movement, When Jan tightened the rotations in the 2nd half there was a lot of standing around, Especially when they went in the high low offense with Hannah and Addie.
Certainly better than 9-3, but that was likely the 6th or 7th best team we played however and we let them shoot almost 49% on our floor…
Thank goodness McDermott was off a little from three point range as she was only 3–11 and still had 30
And I’m literally shocked to look at the box score and find out Olson was seven of 16 with 21 points. If you would’ve told me, she was 7 of 20 and had 15 I would’ve believed it.
You’re right, we won, it just didn’t feel good. We have the pieces but this teams nonchalant attitude toward dribbling into traps and throwing lazy dumb ass passes has to stop.
I’ll give them credit, they stay in the game and they battle. But they make things so hard on themselves. They shoot sporadically, going into significant lapses, three or four times a game. Then they routinely go from guarding girls 25 foot out to stepping back off the ball and leaving lethal three-point shooters wide open. It’s super strange.
Mentally there’s something going on with this team 🤷♂️
I think this team is going to get much better as the year goes on.
They’ll need to, w/that said, this game has very little to do with any other team on our schedule. I’m not sure why fans do that. Every bad game means we won’t beat anyone else 🥸
My disappointment was with the defense.
Bad defense was their undoing vs. MSU, and it was the same with UNI. You keep letting a small guard dribble past you, that is going to burn you, especially when the backside help doesn't stop the play, and more especially when that little guardare is making about everything.
*I swear Lucy had two shots that were past 50% through the hoop before rimming out. How? Frustrating misses for LO tonight, but she's still Iowa's best offense when she takes it to the lane.
*Stuelke made some plays when it mattered. A younger HS splits her 4th qtr free throws, and this game gets away.
*First game where I felt they were actually trying to get McCabe open looks.
*Why is McDermott playing at UNI? Go get paid somewhere. Because she made Iowa look pretty bad tonight. $$
Shouldn't have been remotely close, but at least Hawkeyes didn't take a catastrophic loss.
I don't know what this team has as an identity. Hope they have some time this week to evaluate.

This team is absolutely better on defense than last year. Best I can remember since Stringer. We lack experience in ball handling and mental toughness. Only time and experience can develop that. The talent of this freshman class and the coming class make me think we could be really good a couple of years from now
What does Jan do about Kylie? 0 points tonight. 0-5 from 3. 25% from 3 all year. I guess 19 minutes tells us something.
You know I think HS needs more shots. She is a 72% FT shooter now. You can’t tell me she can’t shoot a 12 ft jumper. Man would that open up our offense and her dribble drive
