National Guard Disputes Tim Walz's Military Biography

The Minnesota National Guard is disputing Governor Tim Walz's military biography, saying that the Democratic vice presidential candidate did not hold the rank of command sergeant major at the time of his retirement.

Army Lieutenant Colonel Kristen Augé, the state public affairs officer for Minnesota National Guard, told Just the News on Wednesday that the governor did not retire as "Command Sergeant Major Walz" in 2005, as stated on Minnesota's official website, but as master sergeant "because he did not complete additional coursework at the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy." A soldier who does not complete the requisite coursework is automatically demoted, according to Army regulations.

So he was a command master sgt. when he reitred but then was given a different rank after leaving?

Wow. that's so bad. 🤣 🤣 🤣

"In Nebraska, he served as a 11Z—infantry senior sergeant—and a 71L—administrative specialist. He held multiple positions within field artillery such as firing battery chief, operations sergeant, first sergeant and culminated his career serving as the command sergeant major for the battalion.

"He retired as a master sergeant in 2005."

Walz lied.

And no, he didn't retire as a Command Seargent Major. He would have needed to complete additional coursework.

It's against the law to portray yourself as something you are not in the military, especially if it helps advance your career.

*I'm completely forfeiting the idea you may have any ethical concerns with what he has done.

What a scandal!

But he was what he said he was. And then due (apparently?) to some bureacratic rule, he wasn't.

This is equivalent to putting "assistant manager" rather than "assistant to the manager" on your resume.

That said, I hope the GOP continues to try and run with it. Just another in a long line of examples of them misconstruing what average voters give a shit about.

It's like attending Iowa for 4 years. Not taking your final exams. Then claiming that you have a degree from Iowa.

Worse. It's like cheating on your pregnant wife with a porn star and then paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to catch and kill her story only to be convicted of multiple felonies in the process. I'm morally outraged!

That's not what I said.

I said he was a Command Sergeant Major WHEN he retired.

Which was the last position he held upon submitting his retirement papers. It was POST-retirment that his rank was changed.

No. Read the article again. This is cut and paste from the article:

from my understanding, he legitimately acheived and served at the rank

but didn't serve at the rank long enough to retire with the rank
That's how I interpret it too.

So this is the equivalent situation to getting your last job title wrong on your LinkedIn profile.

I guess Harris-Walz have now lost the election. Bummer.

OK.

Now answer this question:

As a member of the National Guard, did Tim Walz ever hold the position of Command Master Sergeant?

Don't know. But I do know that the Minnesota National Guard is disputing Governor Tim Walz's military biography, saying that the Democratic vice presidential candidate did not hold the rank of command sergeant major at the time of his retirement.

OK.

So what? Why does the rank he had at retirement matter?

His promotion to sergeant major was provisional, and required he complete sergeant major school, which he did not. He didn't retire as a sergeant major, much less a command sergeant major. He left the Guard to avoid being deployed to Iraq. Facts are a stubborn thing sometimes. Lying about military service is among the worst kind of lies. There's a reason why the National Guard is being so vocal about this.

This is where I'm trying to educate myself and slow play it for the facts a little.

I'm not in the military, I'm sorry if I say something wrong. I am also not a lawyer.

So, he has many battles to face. The comment about "this is the firearm I carried in combat" or whatever is going to need to be addressed but I think he will "survive" all that shit. Not being a vlow hard but there really is a bunch of it though, he got kinda loose.

The big one, I think, is the "advanced his career" portion related to his name. EVERY campaign document of his referred to him as a position he KNOWINGLY no longer held.

The reason he no longer held it was he had been given the title but had some outstanding qualifications to achieve in order to actually gold that rank. He left, and the military notified him of the demotion post retirement.

Haha hehe, if the last one is true he will go to jail. This isn't rich guy tax shit, this is a true case of stolen valor.

How did he do that when he submitted his paperwork prior to the batallion being called for duty?

You trying to talk about "FACTS" is insulting, you disinformation sharing scumbag.

He filed his retirement paperwork months before the deployment assignment. You guys are really grasping for something, anything. It's hilarious watching you run with the right wing propaganda and then get shot down time and time again.
