Thanks, @Alum-Ni

When was the last time the B1G had a team the CWS? Indiana recently is my guess....I was hoping Minny could rep the B1G but I don't see them beating OSU 2 games in a row at their place...Oh, well....

Looks like the ACC, SEC (guaranteed 3 teams), PAC12 and Big12 will be well rep'd in the Elite 8 (CWS)

Minnesota beating Oregon St. would have been a monumental upset no matter what. Now even more so---79% of Game 1 winners in the Supers advance to the CWS.

Anyone who follows college baseball has noon eastern time circled for Auburn vs. Florida. Mize vs. Singer is an absolute dream pitching matchup.

Blaine Knight on the mound vs. a good hitting S. Carolina lineup is another matchup with some juice to it.

Tennessee Tech at Texas is really good "sleeper" game that could be another really good one.

They hit the ball a ton---which makes up for some other weaknesses.

It would be a fun story, but beyond their #1 starter they don't have consistently strong pitching.

Lead the nation in home runs I believe. It'd be fun to see what their O could do in Omaha.

I'm rooting for brother rodent, but what is everyone's verdict on Luke Heimlich?

Correct. But TD Ameritrade eats fly balls. Plus, with the wind shifting and blowing in during evening games hitters really need to pull the ball down either line. On it's worst day TD Ameritrade is still a much more pitcher friendly park than Rosenblatt was on its best day.
Texas has some strong arms and a couple bangers in their lineup. What Clemmens did in the regionals was more than impressive.

Those games were nuts last night. Vandy's coach made a statement last night about kids going to play pro ball and paraphrasing he said "You're not going to play in games/environment like this unless you play in the world series." He's right. I'm sure a lot of kids go for the money of pro ball but they are missing a unique experience of college ball. You don't get that kind of excitement or atmosphere playing High A ball in some obscure Midwestern town.

Washington and Miss State had meh records prior to regionals. Yet one of them will be at least 1-2 at the cws.

Still pretty meh records after winning their way thru Regionals and Supers. 6 really impressive teams made it to Omaha. Hopefully the CWS lives up to the excitement of the Supers.

Iowa 33-20 after laying an egg in the in the BiG. Doesn't look too bad. I need to go out to Nolan and analyze their SOS, particular Washington's vis a vi Iowa.

@IowaHawkeyeFBnBB4Life , @funnyfletcher etc,

Was Indiana the last B1G team to make the CWS (in 2013)?

In 2013, IU became the first B1G team in the CWS since 1984 (a 29 year B1G conference drought).

Once again, the CWS favors the South and the milder climates (Pacific Northwest).

CWS Breakdown by Power 5 Conferences:

3 SEC
2 Big12
2 Pac12

It sounds like you are new to following college baseball. This has been the case for decades.

Fran, if you check out the cities/locations of where MLB players come from, the overwhelming majority is from the South, East Coast and West. It is extremely difficult for a team north of Oklahoma to make it to the CWS. Weather, demographics, etc are just huge factors. The northern schools also deal with the rare elite-level players that are from their backyards either turn pro after high school or go to a power program in the south to take advantage of the weather and playing against better competition. It's a hard hill to climb. It doesn't mean it's not worth pursuing, but folks need to realize that Heller just getting Iowa to the NCAA tournament twice in the last 4 years is a huge accomplishment.

I'm glad not to see an all-SEC championship. One other tidbit that I heard (throughout the tourney by broadcasters), was that Florida had 7 players drafted this year. Isn't it nice to see that Iowa had 4 players drafted (albeit, Fla had two of the top players in the country). It is nice that Heller can use this as a recruiting tool? Commentators (during the OSU game) mentioned how the Beavers re-instated their program after a hiatus (and are having success). They mentioned Iowa St. and Wisconsin as potentials (as well) with all of this TV money. I think that is a pipedream.
