There are 5 Men's Basketball programs who have
made an impressive record in winning the NCAA
Tournament Championship.

1. UCLA........11 Championships
2. Kentucky.....8
3. N. Carolina..6
4. Duke ..........5
5. Indiana........5

This is the royalty of men's college basketball. Only
UCLA and Indiana have not won one in the 21st century.

is there any true definition of "blue blood?" seems like everybody has a different idea of what one is

Yes, you win a lot, are a national championship contender most years, and have blue as your school color. Thus, Indiana and Louisville don't fit the bill. It's Kansas, Kentucky, N.C., and Duke. UCLA is far removed from being a contender year-in-year-out. But they can move up to blue blood status again some day.

Okay, lol, well, I would argue that Indiana hasn't been a blue blood program since around 1993 and UCLA's last national championship was 1995.

Look at it this way: Yale has the most championships in D1 college football history with 17. Princeton has 14, Harvard 8, and Minnesota 6. Any of those teams current blue bloods in college football? Oh, and Nebraska has 5, for those wondering. And lol, yep, if Nebraska is a blue blood in football, then Starter jackets and stone-washed jeans are still en vogue. Yes, UCLA and Indiana are more competitive in basketball than those Ivy League football teams from the 1890s are today, but you get the point. Different times, different eras.

Kansas may only have 3 national championships in basketball, but they are by far more of a blue blood than Indiana or UCLA, as far as the modern era is concerned.

If I was asked to comprise a list of the current Top 5 Blue Blood programs in college basketball, I would go

1) North Carolina
2) Duke
3) Kentucky
4) Kansas
5) UConn (but fading fast)

Honorable Mention: Michigan State (fading fast) and Louisville
