You know what he meant.Yep, poor Iowa. Only 2 back to back NCAA tournament games.

I'm thinking the Deal signing was a lot more impactful for Greenway perhaps? Especially after seeing/hearing Addie could play the point more often than expected, or even more than that. At UK, Greenway will be able to start very quickly as I believe Amoore graduates before she arrives no?The plethora of talent Jan is bringing in. Gonna be a crowded backcourt.
Yeah, I really can't stand their fanbase. A lot like Nebraska fans but worse.Under a microscope??? Ky dans are worse than anywhere
Agree on most fronts. I don’t think she will be as good as a Lucy, per se.I'm thinking the Deal signing was a lot more impactful for Greenway perhaps? The two programs shouldn't have been competing for Greenway otherwise. With all the things we had going in our favor, which were many and obvious, UK shouldn't of been the program that got her. It has to be immediate playing time.
Yeah, Im a little salty about her not coming here. I know. I think she's going to be really, really good.
Well, Lucy is pretty awesome but honestly, I think Maddyn will possibly be around her skill level or a Van Lith type. I like those types of players. Alas, we'll see.Agree on most fronts. I don’t think she will be as good as a Lucy, per se.
I think she will be a tough, grit player that has a solid line every night, but not to that of the elite scorers/distributors. Just my opinion.
Right, if she doesn’t want to be a Hawkeye, so be it. We have Ayliah Guyton who is close to being ready to play again following an ACL tear. She has a lot of talent. We will be fine !I no longer care about what's her name unless she changes allegiance later on to Iowa.
Counterpoint: recruiting is going great. While I understand that, what is hard is that we have been a legit top 10 team, producing good talent, on TV quite a bit, have good coaching and a rabid fanbase starving for success that has your back.
Negatives: cold weather, could find better academics, NIL.
Counterpoint: recruiting is going great.
Concurred. We are doing great. We shouldn't be losing recruiting battles for the likes of Greenway to UK though. In MBB, yeah, of course. Lots of variables here but with everything we had going our way, we should only be losing recruits to a very small handful of teams frankly. We've lost a couple of good recruits to programs that are beneath us.100%. We are doing great. I just really thought when a kid said it was her dream to go to Iowa, and play awesome since, it is really hard to imagine losing her.
Actually no I don’t. You don’t get every recruit you go after. There’s no reason for a pity party. We’re not UCONN or S Carolina but 2 back 2 back finals is impressive. And our recruiting is going really well, actually better than ever. You know what he meant.
I add that many people belief the back 2 back title seasons as simply the CC22 affect. Something Jan now has the chance to prove we can be a top 20 level team without CC22. Signing Deal was Huge and goes to the culture of the program. Adding Hays and Houston as well means we'll be in the hunt. If we were to land Woliczko or someone similar this is probably still a top 5-10 program going forward, or at least one capable of deep tourney runs.Actually no I don’t. Agreed. Could the fact that we have Guyton been part of the reason Greenway cooled on us? Maybe she camped with Guyton and she knows how good Guyton is, and was fearful she would not be the #1 point guard at Iowa, while she could be #1 at Kentucky.Right, if she doesn’t want to be a Hawkeye, so be it. You all were told 6 months ago this wasn't going to happen. Shouldn't be an overreaction or shock at this point......
Maybe a few guards that could take away playing time at her favored position? It's not like Iowa hasn't increased their level of talent on the recruiting trail. It does not make a lot of sense. I am guessing there is an obstacle fans do not know about with Iowa.

Part of the lure to some people is the ability to play from day 1. I think that our guard recruiting has been pretty decent. You can figure that Mallegni will be cemented as a wing ... and will definitely be seeing plenty of action. Obviously, having Heiden and Hays holding down the fort on the post ... that's a no-brainer.100%. We are doing great. I just really thought when a kid said it was her dream to go to Iowa, and play awesome since, it is really hard to imagine losing her.

Then if we're projecting things work out at guard ... there are a lot of folks to like there. As others have indicated ... the coaches really like what Guyton brings to the table. It's obvious that there is a lot to like about the hustle that Stremlow brings to the table (particularly given that she already has great chemistry with Mallegni). Then, you gotta figure that Deal and Houston will also be likely contributors at G too.
On top of all that ... we still have spots to fill for the roster in '25. I don't know if they're going to target transfers or what there. I would think for the '26 class, they likely want to land some F/W-type players ... hopefully folks who have the ability to stretch the court (tip of the hat do Dan there ...).

Was Jan the HC then? Are we currently a top 20 ranked team? Do you understand WHY we aren't? I'm fully aware that we went to sweet 16's and an elite 8 in the four years previous to Clark....Iowa was a top 20 program before CC
It appeared her interest leapt from Iowa to UCLA to Duke to Kentucky after other high profile guards made commitments to these programs.
You seem to be conflating a weekly team ranking with the overall standing of the program. UConn is a top 5 program that is sometimes ranked outside of the top 5.Was Jan the HC then? She should committed to Iowa early on thenIt appeared her interest leapt from Iowa to UCLA to Duke to Kentucky after other high profile guards made commitments to these programs.
What is your deal Rook? Like I don't know who Jan Jensen is or was? Like I don't know why they're ranked at #26. I would think you would know what I meant with "top 20 level program" without having to spell it out. Anything else you'd like to nit pic or over analyse just so you can post something? Good Lord...You seem to be conflating a weekly team ranking with the overall standing of the program. UConn is a top 5 program that is sometimes ranked outside of the top 5.
Iowa is currently ranked outside of the top 20 because they lost a large senior class that contributed most of the minutes on last year's team.
No, Jan wasn't the HC prior to CC. She became the head coach in 2024. She was the "associate head coach" at Iowa for the last 23 years.

You didn't seem to be aware that Iowa has had a lot of success prior to CC (Iowa WBB has a lot of new fans). Anyone who thinks they aren't currently a top 20 program hasn't been a fan for very long. What is your deal Rook? Like I don't know who Jan Jensen is or was? Do you have a reading disorder? Seriously. I stated we had sweet 16's and elite 8's just in the 4 years alone before Clark. How does that make me "unaware of their previous success"? I've followed the team back when CV Stringer was coaching, and I'm fully aware of their accomplishments in Bluders early years and before that. At what point did I say they aren't currently a top 20 team? What I said was they are not RANKED in the top 20, so for all practical purposes they are not currently a top 20 team. What you or I THINK doesn't matter in the polls or come tournament time. I don't see how my question about Jan being the coach was snarky. If you can't understand thats one reason we're not ranked right now, then I don't know what to tell you. I would think its freakin obvious why we are not currently ranked. 1) The best player who ever played is no longer on the team. 2) We lost several other key 4 year starters. 3) We have a new HC. Maybe you should take a second and actually read the posts before making assumptions. You didn't seem to be aware that Iowa has had a lot of success prior to CC (Iowa WBB has a lot of new fans). My snark was a response to you asking whether Jan Jensen was head coach prior to CC. It was a snarky question so I gave some back.
Personally, I'd like to nit pick your spelling and maybe over analyze why your spell checker didn't catch the errors...Anything else you'd like to nit pic or over analyse just so you can post something? Good Lord...
