I thought the NCAA seeding committee did a really good job this year. Not much to complain about this year. The only one that stood out as sorta weird was Clay Ream(NDSU) at #6 at 157. Others?

As far as draws go, I do not particularly like ours.

125- not much to say here, Gilman will roll. Avoids Terao and Lizak which is ideal. Cruz could maybe be a problem with his stalling from neutral and top work but I think he will get beat before the semi's

133- I don't like where Cory sits here. I think NaTo, Micic and Cory are the 3 best guys at the weight. Suboptimal to have to go thru both just to make the finals.

141- Could be worse. I don't think it really matters, I see 2-2 as best case scenario with 1-2 or 0-2 more likely.

149- Knew he was going to be 4/5. Would be much better off as the 6 in my opinion, but should be able to place 3/4 even if he were to lose to micah in the quarters.

157- I also don't particularly like Kem's draw with Palacio in the quarters. That will be a fun match. If he can get by him I feel good about him making the finals.

165- As good as you can hope for. Outside shot at winning first rd and a good chance he could win a match on the backside.

174- Pretty good draw. Will have a winnable 2nd round match vs. Preisch, who just got beat by the Rutgers dude a couple weeks ago so it may not even be him. Then BoJo

184- Bottom side of the bracket is crazy. Opposite of Dean, which is the most important thing.

197- A pretty winnable 1st rd match, probably 0-2 or 1-2 though.

This was my nightmare scenario, but to if he wins the top half there's no stopping him!

Wilcke and Gunther are at least in good position to win thier 1st round match. Hopefully then they can each win one on the backside. They barely got in so a few points is bonus for us. Cartons draw could have been a lot worse as well. He at least has a shot at winning his first 2 with possible bonus in the pigtail.

has anyone figured points off of the seeds? i know upsets and bonus ect., just wondering who favorite is going in.

Gilman should have minimal difficulty making it to the finals (and should win it)

Clark has a tough road, hopefully his shoulder will hold out and he can give a solid effort regardless of where he ends up. The top half of 133 is much tougher than the bottom half IMO but the seeds are probably how they should be based on regular season results.

It is in Sorenson's best interest to beat Micah Jordan (duh) in the quarters, otherwise he will almost definitely have Lugo in the wrestleback round with the loser of that bout dropping right to the 7th place match. Not a good place to be considering he has lost to both guys already this season (granted he could very well beat both of them). He will need to be more prepared than he was last weekend.

Kem will have a possible interesting 1/4 finals with Palacio if he gets through Murphy. I think LaVallee is tough but Kemmerer has better pedigree. 2nd place would be a nice achievement for him.

Meyer has a tough road but I doubt anyone he wrestles is excited to see him. Depending on which version shows up he can be a rather large thorn in anyone's side.

Brooks should make it to the semi's but I think he drops that match to Nickal. He has looked phenomenal lately, though and I wouldn't be surprised if he made the finals. Unfortunately, I also wouldn't be surprised if he took 8th...

The rest of the Iowa guys will hopefully come away with a couple wins. I think 4th is about as high as this team will finish unless each of the guys above steps up and over performs.

If everything were to go to seed (+ advancement pts):

1. Penn St
2. Okie St
3. Ohio St
4. VT
5. Iowa

VT barely behind tOSU, which was surprising to me. This also counts Suriano points as 3rd, looks like he may not be scoring any points. Without his points Okie State jumps to first.

I don't like the brackets for 133, 149, and 184 because the top B1G wrestlers are on the same side of the bracket. It's already the toughest conference and these guys wrestle one another all year long. I understand it's based primarily on formulas, but it seems there should be some consideration especially since other teams do t have the same grind and arguably earn a better seed as a result. Otherwise the brackets are reasonable this year.

Suriano WILL wrestle next week.

On his radio show, Cael said, “He’s wrestling. Didn’t make sense to wrestle him at Big Tens. Yeah, we could’ve used him, but setting himself back was not worth it. I think training can be overrated at this point in time. There is story after story of [wrestlers] who are injured or hurt and they can’t be on the mat one week or two weeks before a big tournament – Olympics or worlds – and they end up having the best tournament of their lives, so we’re obviously paying attention to those things and trying to make sure that our training is correct and we’re preparing our team correctly but as long as he’s getting his heart rate up. It’s not like he’s going to learn how to wrestle right now. He’s been wrestling almost everyday of his life since he was a little kid. It’s just a matter of him keeping his conditioning up and keeping his mind fresh, so I’m not worried about the training aspect. It’s just trying to get him as close to 100 percent as possible. That’s priority No. 1”

So Nick will wrestle. Will he be 100%? Doubtful. But a 85-90% Nick can get to the quarters quite easily, where he'll likely meet Lisak. Where he goes from there is anyone's guess.

I was thinking the exact same thing. You could throw in 197 too.
Brooks wins big ten, and his reward: he has to do it again to get to Dean.

A couple other thoughts...
Meyers, Gunther, topher, and Cash all have as good draws as you could hope for.

Clark is such a gamer when it gets to ncaa's that his draw doesn't worry me. And i have to think Nato hates Clarks draw.

Yes, Nato gets screwed.

My "in depth analysis".

125- All good here, no message

133- I think we were all expecting a tough draw. Here it is. A match to circle on the top side is Micic v Alber (UNI) 2nd round.

141- Hopefully Topher wrestles like he did earlier in the year, with intensity and confidence. This draw could have been muuuuch worse, IMO.

149- The bottom half of this bracket would have been a dream come true... Not the case, Jordan in 1/4s.

157- Palacio is tough but I have high confidence in Kem. Lavallee will provide a great match in the Semi's.

165- 1-2

174- Good draw. If Meyer comes to wrestle, I think he can get to the 1/4s and have a go at BoJo.

184- This is as good as we could ask for in my opinion. I've said before I like how we match up with Martin but beating someone thrice in a season is tough. He needs to stay physical with Martin again. Nickal is beatable, we've seen it.

197- Hoping for a win.

Thanks for the info.

I was just basing that off of the fact that he couldn't walk without a limp at B1G's.

Didn't Cael downplay McCutcheon's injury last year, too?

I hope for Suriano's sake that he is able to compete to his full ability. Hate to see a kids season end that way.

I think the rankings are garbage. The fact that they completely choose to ignore some wrestlers losses (Nickal), while moving others makes no sense. Why even have conference tournaments, if they already have their minds made up on seeds?

I hear ya. I didn't believe Cutch was okay last year. Knee and back don't heal as well as a sprain can. I suspect Suriano can wrestle well enough for 7th/8th, and anything more is bonus.

Head to Head is 25%
Qualifying tourneys are 10%

The NCAA posts that as their seeding criteria.

I agree with this I think he will make backend of AA. Way more talented than Cutch. Hard to compare the 2. Borderline AA talent to Finalist Talent.

Realistic results

125- Champion
133- Champion
149 - 3rd
157- 2nd
174- 8th. Best draw possible. Should get a chance to wrestle 8 or 9 seed for AA chance
184- 3rd

141-2-2
165-1-2
197-1-2

The close matches that BS won last year didn't go his way this year. That is the bottom line. We have no idea how Brooks will do against Nikel I think it will be a tough close battle. Brooks is wrestling the best of his career. Gonna be a lot of fun.

If you can't understand why Nickal is the 2 seed, there probably isn't much you are able to understand. Some people amaze me
I was actually referring to consistency in rankings, not Nickal's rank himself. Felt that was easy to follow by my post, but apparently not. For instance Nickal lost to Martin, still stays ahead of Brooks after Brooks destroyed Martin. I'm fine with these rankings. Joseph(1,1,4,15 losses) splitting with Jordan(2,2,2,3 losses), both with 4 losses, but Joseph had the worst loss, but they put Joseph ahead of Jordan based on big ten finish, I'm not fine with that. It seems inconsistent to me.

common opponents I believe VJ has a worse record as well. Either way I dont see either beating Massa.
