NCAA Tournament Seeding

My overall concern, as always, is how will the guys doing the "last go round" react if/when they fall into the consis?

I've just seen too many times where a senior says "fvck it" when they realize a title shot is gone.

We'll know soon enough.

174 was tough no matter what. O'Toole will be brutal for Alex in the semis. Abe has a terrible draw, but not undeserved. Have to beat Bolen to even get to Brooks. Start game planning men!

Why does everyone think that O'tool is the next coming? Yes his is undefeated this year. Also, his toughest opponent was the #9 seed Hall from WVU. That and the #16 Weber, then a bunch of garbage. I think Bull handles him.

Actually, O'tool might not get past Kharchla to be honest....

Only way we’re winning this thing is death by paper cuts, anyways. Allah Minnesota 2001.

We just need everyone to AA and possibly sneak Marinelli in the finals.

Good news is PSU got a bunch of bad draws. They were really counting on five guys in the finals. I don’t see it happening.

Hawks have to be a bunch of monsters in the basement. 3rds, 4ths, 5ths

That’s my two cents anyways…

Im happy they made mason paris the 7 instead of the 6. That would be a rough draw for cass to meet paris in the quarters. Paris probably prefers his draw as well

I would love for this to be the case, but we will revisit this in 9 days. O'Toole is no joke.

Nearly EXACTLY all the same things I was going to say. 100% spot on.

Possibly sneak Marinelli in? If we're winning this he has to be in the finals minimum. PSU has too many sure things.

Well there is the whole thing where he got 3rd last year. You left that out. That said, the Karchla match will be a good one.

Not great draws but not unexpected besides ADS, lots of people counting out Kemdawg. I have him winning IT!

Hope you’re right but I don’t have a lot of confidence after seeing him scream out in pain in the B1G quarters, skate to the finish of that match, then default out.

So guys that ducked matches or med forfeit out with injuries or not really were not hurt. Hell look at Colton S, but they ding Parris so it doesn't really pan out. Rivera not hurt by his med forfeit, Kem got bumped maybe a little for his. It really sucks for Kem. I think if he is healthy he is the big favorite. He still can hang with the best injured though.

They did go after those with not many matches and they did not care at times strength of schedule and went after the big 10 pretty hard. This kind of logic made for some real land mines for people. Nothing like what they did to the bull that year he got Smith first round.... that was the a true shit 1 seed as I have ever seen.

Could happen, but I don't see it with this group. Close knit group, they'll battle until the end.

Or could be the other way around. When he gets this far. No point in not going for it all. Last go around!! It will be on his mind that’s a fact

Maybe bolen doesn’t want to wrestle brooks and Abe beats him

Just curious as to who the last Hawkeye was to pack it in or are you just saying wrestlers in general react this way on their last go around?

I agree. If he wins and then loses to Brooks he likely has Venz or Romero was n the consi’s.

if he lost first round, he would probably get greer, then braunagel, and then Munoz in the blood round. i don't see a way he gets venz/romero unless he wins round 1.

After looking at the brackets. Assad is better of losing in the 1st round. Bolen is tough btw but the 1st two wrestle backs are cake walks. Not the Iowa way. But get on a roll in the wrestle backs is easier than losing a 2nd rd or quarters match!!! Path looks ok to me

Dude, this is still just on paper. All bets off when that first whistle blows.

Not really, like Rivera, they were generous with Kemerer. Would rather he be the 6 because I don't like the the quarters match up...strong, active guy...tough to protect an injury with him.

Drake - wish he was healthy but even so there is nobody unbeatable before Suriano. If he loses to Courtney he could have Prata then Lamont or Heinselman.

Austin- needs to take care of business and make the semis. He beat Philippi and Meyers last year. Hopefully he takes that level jump like last year.

Jaydin- he's not 100% but I think he can make the semis vs Rivera.

Max- needs to win the first 2 and be ready to win the RD of 12 if bounced by Yiani.

Kaleb- same as Max but substitute Carr for Yiani.

Bull- best path to the semis he has had.

Kem- I would have preferred the 6 seed but he's a gamer.

Assad- tough first match but he's seeded low so......

Jacob- can't ask for a better shot to possibly make the finals.

Cass- thankfully Parris was 7 vs 6. Make the semis and see what happens.

Kind of a general statement. But given the Hawkeye seniors/super seniors and the number that are dealing with significant injuries, I could certainly understand.

I know I'll get abused for this, but the body language I've seen over the years from Nick Moore in ? and DSJ in Oklahoma City in 2014? just looked like they HEW.

With these seeds I’ll take Iowa’s chances!!
