Last weekend my son attended the Friday Night Lights football camp in Memorial Stadium. I have been to memorial on game day but have never been there when it was "empty" ish. After going through the football complex I was a bit confused with all the hype about Nebraska's facilities. Their indoor football facility is almost exactly the same as the one in Iowa City. Their outdoor practice fields are not much different with the exception that they have 2 more fields than we do.

On Saturday my Son played in the 7 vs 7 tourney in the practice complex. Fortunately, 3 of the games were in the indoor facility which had air conditioning.

One thing that is different than Iowa vs Nebraska is the fact that their outdoor facility has chain link fancing and sits smack dab near a rail yard and power plant...very ugly. 1/2 the time when a train went by the kids thought it was the play horn. Iowa's outdoor practice setting is pristine compared to Debby.

Our practice fields are a stones throw from a railway. the hype surrounding their facilities has to do with have a big red N on them.

10 years ago they could brag about facilities. But now almost everyone has caught up. They are more realistically probably middle of the pack nowadays "facility" wise.

But if you were to ask a Nebraska fan their biggest strengths as a program is their facilities and how they were good 20 years ago.

This. They were ahead of the curve...not any more.

Well, is it 10 yrs ago or 20 that NU's facilities were great?

If you equate new to great, than yes there are newer facilities that look cool and are on par with NU's. Now that NU is finally getting a full B1G share you'll see upgrades begin. I assume once NU upgrades again and they are newer than other schools like iowa's your proclaim NU to have great facilities, right?

What makes facilities great at Nebraska? They are big? They have a lot of weights? Cool TVs on the wall?

This is just another thing that everyone has caught up to Nebraska with and another reason they are pretty much mediocre nowadays. Nebraska is barely hanging on only because of the success 20 years ago. And in another 10 without any improvement they may be irrelevant.

Maybe Nebraska can brag about the old strength and conditioning coaching back in the day? But everyone has caught up with that too. And I look forward to putting up another 300 yards rushing on the blackshirts this year.

I think you have to take into account that nebraska may have just gave up at the end of last year. I expect them to be much more competitive this year. And much improved on offense. I was shocked when they hired riley knew right away that was a bust. Frost is a good hire for them. And maybe even for the big ten.

Buy the way this is hawkdome one not hawkdome two. Hawkdome two is my grandson. He is nine. Sorry about some of his comments.

Typical Iowa fan strategy. Create a straw man and then proceed to play know-it-all on the topic. All this with a Yogi Berra mentality. "
You wouldn't have won if we'd beaten you."
And a railroad track off in the distance or a 1930's water tower with a ditch chicken painted on it, anchoring a stadium. Tough choice.

Memorial stadium is one of the best stadiums to watch a game.

Respectfully disagree. Even season ticket Nebraska fans will tell you their corner endzone seats are terrible.....and they are! The only bad thing about Memorial stadium. I like it when we make them sit on their balloons for a couple of quarters.

I have season Tix in corner of the end zone about half way up. Love the view and the seats

Difference is have the top S&C guru in the nation at the head of the program once again. He's been back here for a few years, but was pretty much handcuffed by the old regime (Namely Eichorst) and limited what he could do and is now once again involved with the Football program even though he is the head of S&C for all of NU's Athletics. His name is Boyd Eppley who stepped down as the Head of S&C for both the US National and Olympic teams to come back to Nebraska where he started!

I don't doubt you, but someone on this board said that he hired a bunch of assistants with no D1 experience and he even snubbed an NFL S&C coach that he interviewed by not even calling him back.

Let's keep it simple then.

Iowa/Nebraska game score prediction for this season?

That'd be me..all true. Some have experience...snubbed NFL guy who was at nebby with him. Snubbed another guy with B1G experience (2 teams). Cant remember off the top of my head where the dude he hired was from with 1 year exp. Maybe Eastern Carolina chit IDK.

I'm referring to Duvall...who wants his thumb on everything. He'll be first scapegoat...he will fail. He seems like he doesn't want anyone who would show him up.

You are a true idiot and don't know anything about this. The facilities had nothing to do with why Nebraska is mediocre (at best). If you're going to spout off you could at least try to get it right. I agree everyone has caught up in facilities. 300 yd rushing days for IA are a thing of the past. I hope you enjoyed them.

You're pretty confident in our 300 yd rushing days being over.

Care to predict the IA/Neb score this year?

Iowa/Nebraska game score prediction for this season?

Like the douchebag you are you keep asking this question, no one has any idea what the score will be. No one knows how much improvement Frost and staff will make in yr 1. I will be more than happy to give you a prediction about game 5 or 6. Do you have one now?

Boyd is a figurehead, Duval handles S&C for football and he is good.

I think Nebraska has talent. It is not as rock bottom as UCF was when Frost took over. I read the bios on each of the coaches there as well. Solid staff, sans the S&C coach. It won't be a cakewalk for sure, but I still believe in the Easter Bunny, so it can still happen.

Well you confidently predicted our "300 yd rushing" days against you guys were "over". If you can predict that. I thought your crystal ball could forsee the score.

But....like the Nebubba troll you are, you shy from it.

Sure, let's hear your game 5 prediction.

I've hired and fired tons of ppl in my career. In every instance, I felt a duty to handle each instance with respect. Sounds to me, like they have another coach Kaz.
I have to and I've always went with more experience and anyone who can think for themselves and help the team reach the ultimate goal. If you're the boss you should never feel threatened by a guy who has more exp. Atleast reply to the ones you did NOT hire with respect and let them know they didnt get the job...Duvall didn't. FACT.

Why are the 300 yard rushing days over for Iowa buttercup?

Don't be afraid to hire people who can take your job, it makes you look like a genius (always my adage and practice). Plus it's 'job security' when you get older. Trust me, I know. I've had many ppl, whom I have trained, rise to great executive positions. Duvall will be a scape goat if he was intimidated by applicants he rejected. FWIW

Their indoor isn’t the same as Iowa. Hawks won that battle
