Sorry not seeing it. This was as bad as when that walk on played vs Nebraska 2 years ago.
I understand benching a player to get his attention, but it was clear that Nestor just hasn't had the reps to compete right now, especially one on one. Maybe Phil's temper/ego got the better of him for the whole 2nd half.
Didnt play great bit the d still gave up like 240 yds of rushing, so no one on d showed up tonight

problem is we’ll lose 10-15 extra games for him to be mediocre likely as a free safety 2-3 years from now
he’s not quick and rangy like moss was either. so he won’t get that good

If he was in there by way of coach’s decision, I have to wonder what they were thinking as he was repeatedly dominated. I felt bad for him trying to make tackles and bouncing off guys, getting torched a bunch in coverage. He might end up being great, but he clearly is not ready to play at this level and sadly, they’ll need him to be a key cog soon.
Moss was never abused this bad. I remember Moss giving up at least 3 TDs against Minnesota in his first start, but he was at least in position. Nestor was on roller skates all night.
Moss got abused, but was always able to make it a contested catch. It was clear he was a good athlete and had potential.
Nester looked like he should be playing at Wartburg.
Looked like a HS kid out there against grown men. He was lost and overmatched. Hard not to feel for him.
I'd rather rip the band-aide off and deal with the growing pains and play Nestor over Lee. Nestor is going to be good. He's a true freshman. He'll look different next year, and he already looks just as good as Lee.
Big KF will coach him up in year six. That kid and #6 are NOT D1 athletes. Schulty had a terrible night, too. Got to find a way to move KF out, somehow, some way, but I don’t see him going anywhere until he’s forced out
But he also got a bunch of picks that first year too, which showed good potential. Nestor shows potential…as a DIII backup…

The disturbing part is MSU isn't a good team.
Not sure what happened this year, because in all honesty, even Castro hasn't played well.
