[apologies if this has been covered in prior thread]

I’m not saying I want this to happen or think it will, but does anyone think the schools in B1G and SEC that, for many reasons, probably won’t compete for a conf championship have discussed leaving those conferences and form a new conference? The way things have developed it seems only 4-5 schools have a realistic shot of winning either conference championship. I graduated from UI in 1970 and I love the B1G, but I don’t foresee us realistically competing for a conf title. I suppose the biggest impediments to this is the B1G media rights payout and exit fees.

Yeah, it would be awesome being relegated to mid-major, never having a marquee program come to Kinnick again, never playing in front of 100k fans and no one caring whenever we’re on TV.
🤡

Here’s an idea - maybe let’s get someone like Hayden in here like we did in 1979 who thinks we can compete in the B1G, instead of someone with a defeatist attitude like much of our fan base…

Conference championship is not the goal. Making the playoff is. If Indiana can do it Iowa should be able to too.

While I tend to agree, the way a B1G team gets a CFP bid is by finishing in the top 3-4 of the conference; therefore, competing for a B1G championship, which every team has complete control of, helps achieve that ultimate goal, which a committee has control of.

Does the Indiana coach agree with Kirk that Brian is a good OC?

These CFP games show that you need a good offense
Brian’s not our coordinator. Of course we need better QB play as well as WR play but with the schedule IU had this year in the future we can certainly make it. Under Kirk? At this point probably not. But as a program definitely!

No chance … starting next year .500 will be a miracle
These big schools OSU, Oregon, USC, Michigan and PennSt have and will spend $$$$
Iowa doesn’t have it

I know you're a closet Husker fan, but it's been proven that money isn't an issue. No skill player wants to come here because we do not produce.

He would be the OC if Kirk had his say, that is the point

According to Pete Nakos, Ohio State, Oregon, and Nebraska are in the top 10 of collectives. Michigan, USC and PSU are down a bit. Iowa has a golden opportunity in the NIL world. It amounts to how well it is run and how donors respond.

NIL changes everything going forward. You will only be as good as your collective is at raising $ above revenue sharing and also how aggressive your coaching staff is in the portal.
Well, this is a common sentiment, I don’t see how NIL makes major changes in the general rank order of college football over time. The Blue Bloods will have huge NIL collectives, the good programs will have decent NIL collectives and the crappy programs will have crap collectives. It’s all the same, only now it’s out in the open instead of under the table.

Fan base follows the HC's motto of playing to not lose. Fans have as much right as any to pitch or praise the product on the field.

The blue bloods will continue to dominate the playoffs with an outlier or two every year.
