Bjorn is also on the team, so I think it's showing continued interest in both.
I could be mistaken but I believe Emilia Krstevski is also there playing for the Canadian team.

She is, so that's a third target. Probably worth stopping and taking a moment to appreciate that Iowa's coaches are traveling to watch three different targets represent their national teams abroad. They still need to get commitments from some of those top targets, but Iowa's stock has risen by leaps and bounds in the past few years.I could be mistaken but I believe Emilia Krstevski is also there playing for the Canadian team.

I don’t think this forum has collectively decided anything. A *few* of us (including me) are of the opinion that our chances with Skinner, Bjorn and Krstevski are likely slim. That doesn’t mean they are non-existent. I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say I sincerely hope we’re wrong. In that this forum has “written off” any additions to the 2025 class and has the other two prospects going somewhere else, it is pretty clear that our staff is really in Mexico just for a vacation. Significant waste of money - someone should let Jan in on the what we all know!
If Iowa were to land Skinner it would lessen the blow of losing out on Greenway, Lewis, and Bjorn if that happens. Iowa would have two blue chip guards in Deal and Skinner, plus whatever guard emerges from the 2024 class. There wouldn't necessarily be a clear starting spot for a 2026 guard, even if elite.I don’t think this forum has collectively decided anything. My completely uninformed opinion is that of the 3, we have the best chance with Skinner…but I don’t think anyone out there can say their favorite team has a *great* shot with her (except maybe Utah fans), considering her generally quiet recruiting journey and the fact that she is literally a Top 10 point guard. Demand for players like her is sky high and she is likely not done receiving offers.
There is a reason Jan & Raina are in Mexico. Most seem to think Bjorn is going elsewhere and I don't see them making the trip solely for Krstevski. If Iowa were to land Skinner it would lessen the blow of losing out on Greenway, Lewis, and Bjorn if that happens. For Bjorn I think Texas is the favorite, and maybe even the heavy favorite, but she hasn't committed yet. She's made multiple trips to Iowa for visits on her own dime. There's a very good chance Iowa is in her top 3 or top 5, and you don't give up on a Top 20 player until they commit. There is a reason Jan & Raina are in Mexico. 100% agree. I may believe Bjorn is headed elsewhere, for example. That much may be obvious to the coaches even, but it’s their job to keep recruiting til the kid tells them to stop. That hasn’t happened yet with any of these kids apparently (except maybe Koupal). Jan learned this lesson with Clark — persistence can pay off.You don't give up on a Top 20 player until they commit.
But yes I think Skinner is the primary reason for the trip.
I get what your saying but Smith's "athleticism" leaves ALOT to be desired. She has poor hand eye coordination, and a really funky jump shot that she cocks behind her head, and her release is very inconsistent. You can see the same issues on her free throw attempts. I realize that MC was not a great defender, but Smith doesn't really impress there either. Would love to see her with Monica's hands and basketball IQ......Blaming development for Iowa not having more posts in the W is wrong in my opinion. I don't think any coach in the country could've made Monika Czinano into a W regular. She's just not tall or fast enough. The issue is Iowa hasn't been able to recruit players tall or athletic enough that they could develop into W players.
Starting at the 5, players like Boston, Griner, and Cardoso don't really shoot the three much. They mostly score around the basket, hit short jumpers, and cleanup on the glass. But each of them is 6'5' plus and more athletic than Iowa's recent 5s have been.
Most of Iowa's 5s have only been tall enough to play the 4 in the W. But 4s in the W are even more athletic. Gustafson and Czinano aren't in the same stratosphere athletically compared to Angel Reese, Breanna Stewart, or NaLyssa Smith.
The truth is only 10-15 players in a given class will spent significant time in the W. Most of those will come from the top 20 or 30 players in a class. That Gustafson made the W as the 80th ranked player in her class without great athleticism is a testament to her development at Iowa and her perseverance to evolve her game.
Stuelke is the only Iowa post in the past 10 years that is athletic enough to compete with other 4s in the W. Let's see how her development plays out the next couple years.
Would LOVE to see her rim running with Clark in transition!!!Hannah could play in the WNBA right now.
Colorado Lockdown, Minnesota Suns, Team Lex, & Mac Irvin Fire all have players the staff is tracking. Likely others as well.Who’s playing in Louisville?
I’m actually more curious what was going on in Phoenix.Who’s playing in Louisville?

FIFYI don’t want to sound “entitled”, but it sure would be nice to get a couple of elite recruits and continue to play with the “big girls” for a LOT more years.
Addi Deal is a big time recruit and so is Ava Heiden IMO. Heiden may not have been a McD’s AA but she had the potential to be tbh. I think her injury may have set her back in the rankings a bit. Houston, Guyton and Mallegni aren’t too far behind either.I don’t want to sound “entitled”, but it sure would be nice to get a couple of elite recruits and continue to play with the “big girls” for a few more years.
Skinner?Abby with an interesting post on IG about watching past, present, & future Hawks this weekend with pictures of the WNBA Star game & USA basketball 17u vs France...
🙏Skinner?
"Future Hawks" statement certainly perks your interest. Doubt Jan would fly to Mexico, if she didn't feel she had a good chance at getting a commitment from at least one of the young ladies playing for team USA.Skinner?
very very interesting for sure!Abby with an interesting post on IG about watching past, present, & future Hawks this weekend with pictures of the WNBA Star game & USA basketball 17u vs France...

Does anyone have a list of recruits Iowa has offered in the 2027 and 2028 classes?
It's probably time for them to get their own threads, but I don't have a ton of free time to dig right now.
For 2027, I know: Finley Chastain and Sydney Savoury,
For 2028, I know: Guy, Chloe Johnson, and Sydney Douglas.

Mom (coach) played at Mississippi State back in the day. They are among her early offers.
Wow! The longest wait ever for this transaction; wonder if we'll ever know why?
Probably a day late and a dollar short. Who knows though
Yikes! Was she born in a weight room?
