They seem to have a tendency when threads mostly devolve into name-calling to lock the threads.
As opposed to you know, discipline the posters involved. Probably half a dozen in this thread I’d say could do with a timeout for their posts.
They're totally cool with giving a time out to the provoked people... Quite frankly, when threads devolve into that, they either seem to get locked down, I just back and laugh at the childish name calling from supposed adults, or just exit the thread.

I don't blame you. It doesn't have to be that way. I don't have the restraint to not fire back at times. Sometimes I wish I did. I'm sure if this was the town square, not a message board, and the people I can't resist responding to and I were to sit down and have a beer the conversations would go much differently.

For public figures like Trump and Kamala? No issue. They put themselves into the limelight deliberately. I have no issue with Kamala bamala, the orange Cheeto, etc.
I try very hard not to call posters on here names. I admit I do say posters are being stupid or moronic from time to time. But only when they are being stupid or moronic. So that’s just factual 😜
I never calls posters an actual slur. The word “fag” in my book is an outright slur. Maybe not as bad as the N word, but approaching that tier. It is meant to demean someone else for an aspect of their being they cannot change. Personally I think we should self police that use on here.
Out of respect for the offices they hold/held, I'd like to do a better job of being respectful even of the public figures I don't care for. That's something I need to work on.
As far as posters on here, I show them the same respect they show me, just as I would in person. Frankly I don't care what a person's sexual orientation is or what letter of the alphabet they are. I do care that they give me the respect they feel they are entitled to and demand of others. There's way too much baiting on this board from people who are too sensitive. Once you've already been a jerk, don't be offended when people respond to you that way.

So, based on your response you're ok with using words that are not aimed at a particular board member, right?

Not if it is a slur against a group of people who cannot change their circumstances (the N word or “f*g” both fit that bill). Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I honestly don’t know why you have to demean others for something that is not a choice. It’s just mean, it isn’t funny and (for you MAGA types) it isn’t Christian.
I have no issue making fun of Kamala’s fake laugh, making fun of Donald’s gut or his orange spray tan. Those are all choices they make that can be modified. Orientation, race, etc. are not.
But hey, I slip up sometimes and say mean things. I’m not trying to be the internet police, just pointing out I wish we didn’t do it as much as we all do and that we may be a bit inconsistent in how the board is moderated on that point.
