Strange to try dunking on NYT for an op-ed from 2014 that was likely published specifically because it was controversial.
The controversial bit would be pointing out that pedophilia itself is a disorder and doesn't mean somebody has acted on the impulses that constitute said disorder. It goes on to argue that someone with this disorder ought to be able to receive treatment for it so as to be less likely to harm children.
Terrible stuff, obviously.

The author states what's true -- the definition of pedophilia is sexual feelings towards children, a psychiatric disorder. Not actually abusing children. (which of course some people with pedophilia do -- the article points this out and then suggests that we should find more ways to treat people with these urges so they don't abuse children -- stop it before it starts)
