The issue is when you get the gift of a #2 seed you have to take advantage. Brooks didn't take advantage and ended up 8th.

Let's say he beat every wrestler to who he is actually a better wrestler. He still probably would have lost by the quarters, goes to the wrestlebacks, and places 7th. Not much difference. Best case scenario is he loses in the semis and finishes 6th. No matter what your seed, if you're the 7th best wrestler in a tournament you'll have to pull an upset somewhere to place higher than 7th.
