My dad is a vet and he has not watched the NFL since the players started protesting. He reminded me that a lot of people died in many wars and that kind of disrespect towards our country and our soldiers is despicable.
KF is right on this issue; if you want to protest, do it on your own time.
Also, why have a protest that involves our national anthem, the flag and the soldiers carrying that flag? The players should have thought things through more and the owners should have as well.
The last poll I saw showed over 50% of the country was not in favor of the player protests. Good job, players, owners, and NFL leadership. You pissed off half the country. Was that the goal?
My dad disagrees with you and so do I.People died, and killed, in wars so any America could express himself as he sees fit. Its called freedom. I would never sit during the anthem, but I can respect someone who does.

Express yourself but leave the flag, the national anthem, and our soldiers out of it. Show some damn respect, instead and maybe the protesters will get some respect, compassion and understanding in return.
or stand in attention, with arms locked, showing unity? can you show respect and protest at the same time? I don't think this had to be so hard; the players and owners simply pissed off a lot of people. So protest when nobody is watching?
yep, and Colin paid a huge price for his stupidity. You dad is entitled to his opinion and so is Colin Kapernick.

From the chicago sun times:
Some 64 percent of Americans believe NFL players should stand and be respectful during the playing of the national anthem, according to a survey of 1,633 respondents conducted by Remington Research Group on Sept. 25.
A little more than half (51 percent) said they are watching less football this season than in years past. Of those, 69 percent cited players using the field as a political stage for their lack of interest.
While almost two-thirds of the respondents said players should stand and be respectful during the anthem, 24 percent said they did not have to. Twelve percent were unsure.
When asked if seeing players on their favorite NFL team kneel made them more or less likely to watch in the future, 50 percent said less likely, 30 percent more likely and 20 percent said it made no difference.
According to the poll, 70 percent of the respondents considered themselves to be an NFL fan.
You dad is entitled to his opinion and so is Colin Kapernick.
Yep, and the owners want no part of him. That is part of what freedom is all about.
he has nice hair, though. lolLol kaperdick is an idiot

Do you have a Garo Yepremian dartboard you throw darts at?As long as the Chiefs are playing I'm watching. In fact, I watch no more or no less NFL than I ever did.
Exactly. The NFC playoffs are ridiculously loaded this year. There's not a game in the NFC playoffs I want to miss. People are picking a bad year to boycott the NFL. I never even notice the players kneeling for the anthem because they mostly just cover the game at kickoff on TV. What's not to like? It's football, man, played at a high level. The only thing that pisses me off are the damn reviews. I'm not even a Steelers fan, but how in the hell was that not a catch???
yeah, that same freedom means we can choose to disagree and dislike their choices all we wantPeople died, and killed, in wars so any America could express himself as he sees fit. Its called freedom. I would never sit during the anthem, but I can respect someone who does.
YESSo protest when nobody is watching?
Maybe they ought to be more like JJ Watt and do something that might actually make a differenceWas the goal to piss half the country off or was the goal to make a difference and bring light to an issue?
The 32 NFL owners are billionaires and are powerful men. The players are millionaires and are famous and popular because they are football stars. With all of their money, power, and popularity, why can't the players and owners make a difference and bring light to an issue AND not piss half the country off AT THE SAME TIME?
Maybe they ought to be more like JJ Watt and do something that might actually make a difference![]()
YES
Like Herschel Walker said, where were all these guys during the off season? None of this matters when the cameras aren't on them? That's a joke!

Such a strange thing to get so upset over.
Anyway, can't wait for the games today. Best football on the planet being played.
Cant you protest AND show respect towards our nation, our flag, our anthem and our soldiers at the SAME TIME?That defeats the purpose of a protest. How do you know that these guys don't do anything in the off season?
As a veteran who fought for your freedom, I find your attitude toward country/flag despicable! Too bad draft is still not in force as that would change your attitude in a hurry!Yeah, I don't care about any of that. I like really good football and the NFL provides it for me. I love America and our freedoms, but I wouldn't care if someone took a shit on the flag at the 50 yard line before the game as long as I still get to watch the game.
The above pretty much mirrors my NFL experience this year. I record all BIG and other quality games and watch leftovers on sunday.I’ve watched a total of 1.5 games maybe when I used to watch a ton of NFL football. I continue to watch a ton of college football except the SEC. I refuse to support the SEC and ESPN whenever possible.
The NFL product is very boring compared to the college game and the anthem protest definitely sticks a fork in it for me. There’s a complete lack of respect for the fans as they are essentially protesting many of their own fans who are average joes and hard working people trying to eek out a living while they are paid to play a game. The disrespect for our country, military and our police force is untolerable. Their stance is also not supported by data.
Like someone else said I do support and am proud of the Iowa Hawks in the NFL and try to check up on them from a distance (highlights, stats, etc.).
Liberal thinking, and you think the Clintons and Obama are awesome too
Cant you protest AND show respect towards our nation, our flag, our anthem and our soldiers at the SAME TIME?
If not, then the players and owners are more stupid than I thought.

Disagree with you on this totally. Protesting the flag is total disrespect whether you think so or not. You can disagree with how the country is going and what you want to see changed. Do it and then back it up with actions like joining in some solutions for change. Respect for those that put it on the line is a good start in being positive not the crap on the flag that we see now. Do we have problems? Yes we do but these NFL players doing this then saying the fans can go to hell if they don't like it, well most of us say screw you. And if you don't really think viewership is down no matter the format you are totally mistaken.I don't know any of you personally, but the people that I do, that are anti NFL because some players kneel - white players, black players, good guys and undoubtedly some that probably aren't always good guys - are some of the most shallow, simple minded people I know.
They include high school friends I knew well for a brief period a long time ago, in-laws, people at our place of employment. The constant is they are mostly incapable of understanding or caring why some players kneel, they think it's an jab at our military, and often there are racist overtures even though players of different races kneel and stand.
I've also learned no one can get them to understand it's not a jab at America or the military no matter how many quotes, pictures, etc are supplied as examples to the contray.
I have many friends that served our country - and this small sample group all loves the NFL and they still watch, except for one nephew. Unfortunately my nephew is a dumba$$, and has nothing to do with the kneeling issue - he's been a dumb a$$ his whole life, with many horrible decisions detrimental to others. All vets I know, but the nephew, support the kneelers position, and what they are doing it for.
That said, my viewing patterns haven't changed. For the past many years I typically have games on if at home, but usually doing many other things, watching bits and parts of many, but very few full games throughout a year. I typically don't know who is playing until the game comes on.
for those that use to love it, but now don't watch because of this, I feel sorry you are missing out on something you they use to like, because someone seduced you into thinking its something it isn't.
If anyone disagrees with this - good for you.
