Part of the issue also potentially relates to our LB development since '13. For a long time, when we had Norm Parker, our LB development was regularly competitive with Ohio State's in the Big Ten (for being the best). However, right now, given the hype and success that Wisconsin's LBs have had ... they're getting a lot more recognition from high school players these days.
From what I understand, both Nebraska and Wisconsin were higher on Heinrich's list than Iowa. Wisconsin has been building a reputation that makes them very attractive to LBs. As for Nebraska ... the energy and enthusiasm that Frost has brought back to the Huskers likely made them an incredibly difficult choice to pass up upon. Also, given that they're going to be operating within a 3-4 D (that we've yet to see) ... they can probably sell themselves like they're intending on becoming the next Wisconsin, attacking style D too.
Thus, the challenge for Seth Wallace is to make Iowa's LB unit regain the notoriety and reputation that they once had.

Would love to have had Nick pick the Hawks but we will be more than just fine without him. We'll have no problem putting a hat on him during his time with Debra. Go make some more pipe bombs.

I can't prove how NU's defense will be under Frost anymore than you can prove Iowa's defense can stop Frost's high powered offense. We'll find all that out over the next few seasons. Considering Frost has won and had top offenses at both Oregon and UCF it would be logically to see that continuing as NU can recruit as well or better than Oregon and especially UCF.

I’m not sure I agree with this. Our last 6 starting LBs have all got looks in the NFL. Hitchens and Kirksey are each making around $9 million a year if you count bonuses and everything. Hitchens has a 5 year $45 million contract. I’d probably take Jewell, Hitchens and Kirksey over about any combination of Norms LBs.
