I guess I'll have to wait until Friday to get my:

  • Spectrum deal of the week
  • Bath and Body Works ad
  • True Green Chem Lawn "LIMITED TIME OFFER"
  • Hill Country Honda offer to by my Accord (that I sold in 2020)
  • Southwest Airlines PRIORITY REGISTRATION

I don’t remember everything getting shut down when a real leader and president like Reagan died.
You should probably verify your posts before you hit submit. It will help you not look so foolish.

President Ronald Reagan passed away on June 5, 2004. June 11, 2004 was a national day of mourning on which federal offices were closed, as is customary for the funeral of a sitting or former president.

The first time the federal government was shut down for a deceased president occurred with the death of President Gerald Ford on December 26, 2006. A national day of mourning was observed on January 2, 2007, during which all non-essential federal operations were suspended, marking the first formal government shutdown in honor of a deceased president.

LOL - The vast majority of welfare in this country goes to liberal Dems and it ain't even close.
Are you talking percentages or volume? If I had to make an educated guess, more Democrats likely receive welfare in terms of raw numbers, while Republicans likely have a higher percentage of their population relying on welfare in rural areas.

Who have they been honoring so far this week? I haven't gotten mail in three days. So much for rain or snow or blah, blah, blah the Federal Government employees are a joke.

now you guys are making me paranoid about whether my transit to downtown will be running. (Looks like they will, though with some obvious downtown detours).

It does occur to me that there's a certain irony to the Executive Order closing federal agencies for the day, given Carter's role in creating a bunch of them.

To be fair, what that guy doesn't remember could fill the world's oceans

Obviously talking volume then, because the libs are obviously using more welfare that’s the only real metric to track this.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Hunter Biden is on the welfare rolls…

Just to be clear, farmers/ranchers getting subsidies are a form of welfare and it's a pretty safe bet the VAST majority identify as Republicans.

Actually it isn't the same you dumbass.
Farmers and ranchers receiving subsidies is definitely a form of government assistance, even if it’s not typically called "welfare." These subsidies help stabilize the agriculture industry, keep food prices steady, and ensure a reliable supply. As for political leanings, it’s a pretty safe bet that the majority of farmers and ranchers identify as Republicans, since they’re mostly in rural areas that tend to vote that way. Of course, there are always exceptions, depending on the region and type of farming, but overall, the connection between agriculture and Republican support is well-documented.

Factor for disabled veterans too. Plenty of Republicans in that group.

Yup. I can vouch for the fact I receive government assistance in the form of VA Disability Payments.

Same same. I think it would be really hard and take a good deal of assumptions to estimate which political affiliation receives the most from social programs. You would also need to factor the amount of people that don't even vote or care about voting.

We were talking about welfare not subsidies.

Oh, but MAGAs have all the answers, don’t they? They’ve crunched the numbers and delivered the undeniable truth--backed up with several verifiable data links. We’re just humble squirrels, scurrying around for scraps of wisdom in their grand forest of brilliance.

Don't lump me in with them. From my experience at the VA it is the old vets that are MAGAs. I would tend to say it is at least 50/50 split for young disabled vets. They are not brainwashed
