It will be interesting how many teams decline that tournament. Coaching changes, Half the team in the portal . Why is it so late? Most teams will be shut down by the time it starts. Good idea but bad timing. Not so fast my friends...

i'm guessing tv coverage? between the ncaa and the nit, most days are occupied. both start on 3/18 and the only days that don't have ncaa or nit games are 3/24 and 4/2, 4/4 and 4/6.It will be interesting how many teams decline that tournament. No doubt. Even though the NIT has had the second class reputation as would be expected, there were typically still some high-quality teams in it, many who probably should have made the NCAA Tourney and could have made some noise in it. If the 16th place team in the B1G plays in it this year, I will lose all remaining respect I had for it. I still remember my Dad talking about how the NIT used to the THE postseason tourney in the fledgling stages of college basketball ('30s-early '50s).So what you're saying is an Iowa team that finishes with a record of 15-16 can still get an NIT invite, interesting. Shows you how far the NIT has fallen.
