I still can’t believe they are 3-0 and took out two strong/ranked teams and a talented Indiana team. Who the hell saw this coming??

Can Iowa knock them off this pedestal or will they still be in choke mode??

For the love of God, please please please, Fran...Give Toussaint lots of more playing time if JBo can’t hit his threes and slow down Boowie or whatever his name is!

Oh and the chokeyes better practice some damn free throws!

Last year after beating the Cats , Fran said they are good , just young! They aren’t as young this year !

They are a good team.

They have allot of length but aren't super athletic.

Hoping to see more Keegan and Nunge in this one to help on the glass vs Connor.

Im starting to wonder how much longer we need Connor playing the 4, he doesn't stretch the floor or bring anything inside.

Are you saying connors 2 boards in 34 minutes are inadequate 😆. I agree but as long as he's Fran's son I don't see much changing as far as con man's playing time. Not athletic or big enough as a 4 and not skilled or quick enough to be a guard. Should be a role player off bench if anything. Hummel calling out him getting outhustled/executed on boards was appreciated. Sick of the nepotism in Iowa sports

I believe every one of our players, with the exception of Luka is shooting a worse FT % this year than last. May be a statistical anomaly, but needs to get turned around quickly.

And as a side note, can we tone down the name calling a bit. These guys are sacrificing a lot to play basketball as Hawkeyes right now and I'm sure they are more disappointed when they don't play well than you couch coaches are.

I appreciated Connor playing the 4 last year with a short handed team but it doesn't really make allot of sense this year.

For the love of God, get your hand(s) up out on perimeter D, Hawks!!!

How many 3s did Johnson from MN hit because the guy 'guarding' him was down in a stance with their hands hip-high?? (looking at you CJ, on Johnson's last or 2nd to last three point make in the OT session)

And Mildcats? Not right now they're not. They're every bit of their name, the Wildcats, in the last 3+ games.

We have 2 players that can't hit the broad side of a barn unless it's a layup, and another player living on his reputation that hasn't found his shot yet. I expected Connor to be a little better this year and that turned out not the case, Nunge is just trying too hard and still is getting his feet under him. As for JBO, not sure what's the issues are with him but it's a long season and Iowa was never going to go undefeated.
As for Northwestern, they are hardly Mildcats as the OP has stated. If Iowa thinks it will be a waltz in the park they will have 2 losses in the BIG come Tuesday nite.

True with all the above with the exception of a struggling three point shooter who seems more occupied with tweets bitching about playing on Christmas and trying to be some college athlete activist.

Everyone keeps focusing on Connor at the offensive end and why he shouldn't play as much. Offense isn't this teams issue and we don't need Connor to score. If we are a better defensive team with him on the court then he should play. He plays the four but when was the last time he got posted up and scored on inside? I can't remember a single time. The kid gets the Woodbury treatment because he doesn't score but in reality they are both damn good players and make the team better.

He doesn’t rebound great and gets shot over by taller players with good hops but you’re absolutely right, offense isn’t the real issue and I don’t think anyone is saying don’t play him, his intangibles in what he brings are way above his stats, just thinking more Ke Murray might help with height and rebounds as well as Murray having as good a shot or better

Connor is an average to slightly below average defender but he struggles to rebound against taller players in the paint and thats the main issue on the defensive side.

He doesn't get posted because most teams just don’t have 4 men that post up anymore. Allot of teams, like Minnesota, don't use post offense much at all.

On offense his defender is usually leaving him to double Garza.

Keegan is a much better defender, rebounder and shooter.

It just doesn't make very much sense for Connor to be getting so many minutes and KM so few.

Yeah, im fine with Connor getting minutes at a few different positions but KM needs more time at the 4.

JBO should be seeing the biggest reduction in minutes.

Conner feeds the post well and can be a big contributor to the offense on that alone.

He does but the fact that defenders are sagging off him 5 feet negates allot of his ability to make those passes.

If he can't knock down some shots it's difficult to justify him being on the court.

He can do a lot of beneficial things to help the team on the court but I agree, if he can't improve his perimeter shooting soon he will be a net liability because opponents have decided to let him shoot unguarded out there and he is not making them pay often enough.

NW traded their lacrosse guy for some real guards, they are legit now.

Game will probably be determined by defense, rebounding and FT advantage. Both teams are closing out a grueling 4 game stretch over 10 days. Hawks are a little better offensively, largely because of the super stud in the middle. Cats spread the scoring around more with 7 guys that can hit double figures. Hawks also better on the boards thanks to you know who. Cats are a little better defensively with their length and mental toughness. Also better at the charity stripe...if they get there.

Should be a good one. Advantage Hawks because of Luka.

Yeah, he can do allot of good things IF he can make defenders guard him honestly.

If they don't have to guard him it takes away most of his opportunities to use his best asset, passing.

Doesn’t matter if Connor is officially playing the 4 or the 1, 2, 3. Fact is when he’s on the court AS THE “4” we are playing a four guard lineup. Yes, great entry passes and I think adequate defense as far as this team’s defense goes... but his man always sags or is the guy looking to double Garza so unless Connor figures out how to make outside shots he’s still not a difference maker in the B1G. I’ve said this for 3 years now and I always get blasted by the “super fans”.

I wish it were possible to take sports away from people, like taking a favorite toy away from a bratty kid.

This feels like a game that Iowa wins handily. D plays better, shots fall, 12-15 point win.

Gets us feeling better just in time to get boat raced by Rutgers on Saturday with tubby Ron Harper Jr scoring 76 points on 90% shooting off one foot.

Do we get membership cards and decoder rings?

Harper is sitting out their game tonight vs Purdue.
