Anyone wonders why I've given up on following a set religion, I'm just going to point them this thread's way. Holy Christ, some of you stray so far from the teachings of the bible, it might as well be toilet paper. Don't need the bible to tell me the people crossing the border are just that, people, who deserve to be treated like people, and not a scourge or blight on America. I'm glad Martha's Vineyard isn't full of heartless assholes like Fundraiser Abbott and DeathSantis.
Sounds like Biden is doing a great job if more people than usual want to come to the United States for a better life. Thanks, Biden.
For the record, I don't know who brought it up, but the bible has directions on how to give an abortion and in no certain terms argues against abortion, but carry on, heretics.
Setting aside the morality of the whole Immigration Airlines (tm) issue, I have to say, I always get a chuckle out of these "Christians don't follow the rules all the time" types of posts, on a couple of levels. (Disclaimer: I'm not saying your post perfectly fits this mold.)
First of all, Christian doctrine generally begins with the premise that we are, in fact, fallible, and therefore
can't follow the rules all the time. But most Christians are, in fact, decent people, who try their best at least some of the time.
Second, it's not simply a "philosophy," it's a religion, and at that, it's not really a religion premised on salvation through simply following the rules. That's perhaps a little closer to Judaism actually, with its emphasis on "the Law".
Third, and maybe most hilariously, is how such posts actually seem to fully accept the social justice "premises" of Christianity (of which there are undoubtedly some observed more in the breach), but then, oddly, move to the conclusion that, because others don't follow them (or, at least, not to the poster's satisfaction), Christianity should be rejected.
But, fourth, rejected for what? "My truth," I guess. Which of course is precisely the sort of thinking that leads people to treat other people like shit (or, at least, call them 'heartless assholes').
