NW stuns Sparty

The officials did stink up the place with a phantom travel call on Northwestern and then a phantom foul on Northwestern in the last second for both.
Yep, that travel was huge. 1. He didn't even have possession as he was going down. 2. Who even calls that any more? 3. A 4 pt leaf and the ball vs a 2 pt leaf? Huge. I really thought they were screwed at that point. But that foul at the end ... what an embarrassment.

Why you think b1g blows it every tourney?

Hard to prepare for it when you play by different rules every game or even half!
Well thanks for thinking of me. And then you go and make another dumb comment about why the Big Ten doesn’t do well in the tournament. I mean if the refs had prepared us last year we would have beaten Oregon easily. Damn refs.

And to think with the backing of the conference behind them they still couldn’t beat lowly Nw at home.

Did I say anything about Oregon? Talk about a dumb comment lol
How many decades since "physical big ten bball" has won a championship? Yeah that's what I thought....

Jesus man. Big Ten is no more physical than the SEC, or even the Big 12 this year. And you can be a physical team and win a championship. It’s also not like every other conference has consistent refs. Go watch another conference maybe? You think the Big East officiates every single game the same way? Not every game is called the same. It’s not just a Big Ten thing. You’re ridiculous. It’s

Yeah, those calls at the end of the game NEVER happen for any team NOT named MSU.
Reminded me of the Northwestern-Indiana game last year.

Can't remember who won. Game went into OT, but it was comical how many fouls and trips to the line Indiana was getting to come back from their large deficit late in the game.

Do you think officiating is any different than it’s ever been?

So why do I hear "physical big ten basketball" on btn half the time a blatant foul is ignored(typically on a handful of teams,)??
Speaking of big East, been watching UConn since the ray Allen days bud

Someone already answered this for you. Maybe learn what the REAL rules are

Then again b1g refs like to change them at half time often...oops there I go clowning those fine professionals again!! :(
The REAL rules? I mean you’ve been watching games way back to the Ray Allen days of the Big East, explain them to me.

So in other words no. Point is people have been bitching about refs for 40-50 years. Coaches getting t’d up, ejected etc. I guess my point is what do you think is going to change?
Oh no, it is different. I'm just not gonna go into it right now, because I'm lazy.

I would hope that the B1G would fix the GD problem. They are pulling millions more than they ever had yet they do not have a professional referee/officials staff. They hire independent contractors who are shoddy at best and getting worse every effing year. The product is suffering as a result. They need to fix it!

Every conference does the same thing. Plus there’s only so many crews. And people are not jumping to be referees.

Unless you mean literally winning the National Title - which only one team does each year and is QUITE a high ceiling - the Big Ten does not "blow it every tourney." We blew it literally one year, last year.

Since 2000, we have had place a team in the Final Four in 62% of seasons. We have been runners-up 7 times, with SIX different programs all making the NC Game (while other conferences have one or two teams carrying their entire stats). We have also had a full half of the Final Four be Big Ten teams 3 times during that span. The Big Ten, despite not getting over the hump since 2000, has done just fine in the Tournament. Additionally, SEVERAL Big Ten teams were good enough to win it all and got a bit unlucky (i.e., 2005 Illinois, 2013 Michigan, 2007 OSU, etc.). People really need to let last year go for the fluke that it was.

Of course, if we are to actually talk about the two calls by those refs, I will agree it was DISGUSTING Izzo worship bullshit, and it made me literally embarrassed. :) Glad the 'Cats pulled it off!

They don't get paid enough, they rush from game to game, I am surprised that they all make it to games the way they cut it short.

If refs got paid enough to not have to schedule games back to back to back, they wouldn't arrive looking like hell and tired all the time. We get what our leagues pay for and that is crap. Pay them and schedule them so that they are physically able to do a decent job.

All or nothing if you ask me. Fair argument though.
