O/T... ISU Recruits This Weekend...

ISU just signed Ernst (late) out of Clinton...he is the first Iowan to commit to ISU since LA Pomlee (remember him?)...and that was 2008...zero Iowans in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 .. either ISU coaches don't do a very good job recruiting the state or don't put much emphasis on it ... Hoiberg included.

Iowa has signed 7 Iowa kids since 2008...so far in the class of 2016 ISU zero...Iowa 3. Iowa is way ahead of ISU when it comes to in state recruiting. That doesn't mean Iowa should sign a kid just because he is from Iowa...but its' pretty obvious why a Wieskamp verballed to I O W A when ISU came calling.

ISU can call themselves STATE ...they just don't have very many state of iowans on their basketball team...like 2 in the last 9 years.
What makes the difference if the players come from Iowa or not? How many conference tournament championships has Iowa won with their instate recruiting? I think it is ridiculous there is so much hate especially spewed by the Iowa fans. That might be expected when the teams play each other but we should all be for all of Iowa's schools the rest of the season. I guess some people just cant help themselves but to have bitter thoughts all the time. I call them bullies.

I can understand why you ignore my question, but I want to make it clear you are ignoring it.

the last one had 4 Iowans in the starting lineup...

and out of all your out of state recruits...how many were NOT all conference? having 2 iowa kids in the last 9 classes should tell every Iowa high school kid everything they need to know...ISU looks elsewhere first...facts are facts.

for the record...Iowa has had 5 Iowans named All-B1G over the last 10 seasons...how many has ISU?...Oh that's right...you guys don't recruit Iowa...your school just happens to be here....got it now.:D

:D:D

Please do name the 5 native Iowans to earn All Big Ten in the past 10 years. I will sit and wait this should be good : )

sure thing....possibly our 2 leading scorers this season are from CR & West DM...both of whom you boys offered...you better hope your new boy continues to recruit out of state like FredH did....

having a nephew as a head coach in Iowa...he has yet to hear from your boy...(no interest I guess)....oh I know no ISU fans like you care about dominating the in state recruits....that's how naïve you fools are...that's why you didn't have a prayer with Wieskamp.

Yeah we had zero chance with Wieskamp the same way you had zero chance with Fred Hoiberg. Those guys grew up Hawkeye/Cyclone fans. Doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that one out. If you want a more recent example (albeit football) Lazard was never going anywhere but ISU. Some kids have known where they wanted to play since they were toddlers.

If Peter Jok is your second leading scorer you are in serious trouble. I'm sorry but that is just the honest truth.

For the love of all that is holy. Hahahaha I was talking about All Conference buddy. You throw these honorable mention guys at me? Pretty sure Brunner is the only one.

2/5 of that list is also transfers. I thought Iowa did it the right way you guys don't need no stinking transfers!

Yeah I don't see any way he is. Gesell is much better than him and I am guessing will shoot more this season

you never said 1st Team only....did you..
..that's how you clowns work....isn't it?

All-Conference also doesn't say 1st team only ...does it buddy?

jesus...try staying on subject..did I say anything about transfers? based on your post numbers..you & your buddy are only here to stir the pot....we get that....your school doesn't recruit Iowa high school kids...you'd rather get the vast majority of players from out of state...

Hoiberg had a really nice run for 5 years...and did it his way..he left your new guy a top ranked team...now all your new guy has to do is coach them.

All five of those guys were All Big Ten, not honorable mention. Are you a freaking eight year old kid on his Daddy's laptop?

Have you EVER heard the expression, "Don't bite off more than your a$$ can s..t"? Because, buddy, you've been doing nothing but making a fool of yourself this entire thread! You falsely quote recruiting rankings, and especially ignore that you've had players that kept those rankings "high", that NEVER played or left!!!

You know, if it was a matter of saying something sane like, "Yeah, Iowa State has a new coach but we return some good players and we'll see how it goes.", you'd get no argument from me. But this crud about being "WAY AHEAD" of Iowa in recruiting? You haven't had a class to brag about since 2013!!!

It's funny how all this started after you lost to Iowa at football. Little Brother shows up on Hawkeye Report bragging about basketball Months before we play each other because it's all you got on your mind. "Gotta beat those Hawkeyes. Gotta beat those Hawkeyes!" What is funny is two of your players were in Iowa City hanging out with the Hawkeyes! THIS PAST WEEKEND! Even your own team is mature enough not to play "Little Brother"!

Why don't you learn from Niang and Morris that one game a year doesn't mean you have to act like two year old children the rest of the time?

You 555, and Cy, have spent quite a bit of time cutting Iowa and it's players down. Enough. Worry about your own team. And maybe try to learn a little about basketball instead of just making fools of yourselves.

I'm not cutting Iowa down at all. I think Iowa fans are happy with their roster this year and the future and ISU fans are too. I don't think ISU is hurting itself by not focusing on Iowa kids though

Let's just say you don't see KU fans upset they aren't landing the #1 player in Kansas each year. I don't think Duke alums care if their next center comes from North Carolina, Illinois or Maine. When is the last time Kentucky had a home grown star?

If Iowa starts producing more prep stars I'd love to have them. If not, you've got to be able to recruit nation wide. That's the only point I wanted to make.

What in state players has ISU missed out on lately that hurt them? None that I can think of besides Uthoff and that was a unique situation. Wieskamp looks like the only one in the near future that is going to hurt but he grew up a Hawk fan so don't know if you can really fault that on the staff. I would have liked to have Jeremy Morgan but he's probably in a better situation in Cedar Falls anyways and that didn't hurt ISU.

You're saying ISU keeps ignoring in state players but they've made 4 tourney appearances in a row and are a preseason top 10 team now so I don't really look at it as a bad thing. Obviously whatever they have been doing is working

isu's recruiting is so awesome that they may be able to beat UAB. Oh wait scratch that.

More clone fan butthurt please.

the only point? my ass...here are your words at least stand up to them...

Iowa States recent recruiting has been far superior to that of Iowa. Quite honestly it is a bit ridiculous to even debate. Let's not try to fool ourselves by thinking Iowa is somehow locking down the state of Iowa. Other than Woodbury and Gessell (life long hawk fans) every single one of Frans recruits were not highly sought after whatsoever. Can't win at the highest level unless you win on the recruiting trail. Fran needs to start winning on the recruiting trail.

you are a typical ISU fan...we know why you are here & you will disappear once things go south...

Wakeup call for Clown fans....ISU is NOT Kansas, Duke or Kentucky.

Must have missed where I said that...merely said to be a top tier program better be able to recruit across the country.

UAB is sure that isu is just as good as Duke, KU and Kentucky. That is why they quit at half time of the NCAA tourney game.

Reading the Illini board, it sounded like they felt that for some reason the Illini had cooled on him. But I can't say if that is true or not.

Only thing I see on their boards is the Illinois fans want him and are frustrated that he doesnt seem interested. Finalists seem to be Georgetown, Gonzaga and Iowa State. Who knows that the Illinois coaching staff is thinking..

Thanks, I thought he was an Illini lean at one point but don't know much about him. Seems like he can score.

He would be a good get. It will be interesting to see what he does this year with Williams, Morrow and Moss gone. What I read on Illini Loyalty was that there were other players the posters thought that Groce wanted more. But like I said, it's just some posters talking so take it for what it's worth.

Only 54 Rivals top 150 left uncommitted. Problem is a quick look at the "elites" and they'll probably have room for fifteen of them, at least. For example, 247 had Iowa as the 20th best class so far, last I checked. Kansas has three spots to fill. They won't end up out of the top ten.

Anyway, what it means is the guys that are left are quickly becoming fewer and teams just in the Midwest looking for guys? Illinois needs two, Indiana needs two, Iowa State needs three, Wisconsin needs one, a point guard, badly. There are plenty more. And, of those 54 left with Midwest locations? I only count about eight.

I'll say, based on the numbers, get Norvell if you can get him. I'm glad Iowa's got a full class as the scramble time has commenced.

ISU still will go after transfers/JUCOs in the spring but getting one more prep in the fall would be ideal

How ironic..... ISU has significantly more students from Iowa but does not recruit many Iowans while the hawks recruit Iowa more heavily with many fewer Iowa students enrolled

yes it is.... wish more iowa kids were interested in the medical field at one of the leading research teaching hospitals in the country....or dentistry at one of the leading dental schools...of which both institutions provide a great deal of healthcare for the entire state.

Enrollment smack? Is that what clone fans are left with?

Just when you think things can't get worse for isu it always does.
