Good grief!

What is it about Iowa wrestling that is very little to no shots!

Does anyone know what in the world is happening in the practice room?

And the failure to finish shots.

It seems Iowa is missing something. Perhaps we need to bring in a new blood for coaching? Someone who can practice and get the guys drilling on their feet, hand fighting with a focus on shooting and finishing.

Would Iowa be open to bringing in someone like a David Taylor?

I'm at a loss for words. What do others think it'll take to get to stop this decline on offense?

BBtg5: what's frustrating is there was just a LITTLE more offense, Iowa could very well be in first because they'd won most of these close matches. And for those of us Hawk fans who CARE and have been paying attention for the last few years, see the offensive decline growing. It needs to stop.

You made your post at 6:44 PM. Since then, Marinelli and Kem both got to their offense to pull through in the round of 12. They both then beat guys they lost to during the season by getting to their offense. Desanto was offensive as hell against RBY. Warner got to his offense from top and made the national finals.

addition to all that, Iowa won the national title last year and had the most bonus points out of any team.

I am sorry you have the memory of a goldfish and only remember Iowa has a wrestling team in March. If the basketball and football forums keep you off this board during the other months, this forum is a better place.

By the way, go f*ck yourself you clown.

Last year they won their first round and lost to Oregon who got a Covid pass. So no, that’s not true. Last year one of Fran’s coached teams made the second round. Dude, it was just last year. Come on.

I think there are answers, but too often Hawk fans are homer-ish to want to talk about them.

Nothing constructive ... No criticisms .... everything is either rosey or 'oh well ... there's next year'

All the while other teams are progressing.

It seems that the Hawks need to work on their hand fighting to create shots and then shoot with no fear.

Instead there's way too much holding and wasting time. Especially in the first period. And other inferior opponents are using this to stay in matches. And NOW opponents are winning more the close matches with the Hawks.

Need to throw caution to the wind and shoot!!

If you are a current or former College wrestling Head Coach or even an assistant, then you might have some ideas that have some merit to investigate.

Otherwise, you are just an armchair critic with too much time on their hands and not enough to keep you busy and away from making statements that show your lack of deep understanding of all the aspects of which you are talking about.

You have no expertise to share. Only whining.

I'm not a vet either, but I can tell when an animal is sick and if a vet sucks at helping them get better.

You never addressed the actual offense generated by Iowa wrestlers since your post. And who do you think wrestles the matches and generates (or doesn’t generate) the offense? It’s the athletes.
