offense, offense, offense .... where is it?

Maybe they have better wrestlers? It's easy to whine about more offense or the coaches but it's like complaining about speed, you can't always coach a guy to be faster.
And I'm s PSU grad and fan btw.

You really have to look at this on an individual basis. At least that is my opinion. There's probably a bit too much emphasis on the team styles when in reality style depends on skill set. Guys can certainly improve areas of their game but they generally aren't going to be completely transformed. Eierman can't wrestle like Desanto.

So you can't take a guy that works from space and make him great at working ties or vice versa. You can make him more comfortable competing in those positions but their scoring is still probably going to come down to the skills they have been developing their whole life. I think you can add elements that are complimentary and sharpen skills that they already have.
I think it would be reasonable for Iowa to reassess their program. I wonder if there is too much intensity in training. To be clear I have no evidence to support this they may be doing the same thing as every one else.

It seems that the Hawks need to work on their hand fighting to create shots and then shoot with no fear.

Instead there's way too much holding and wasting time. Especially in the first period. And other inferior opponents are using this to stay in matches. And NOW opponents are winning more the close matches with the Hawks.

Need to throw caution to the wind and shoot!!
For God's sake we don't need more hand fighting. We hand fight ourselves to death. We need better shooting techniques and need to learn how to pull the trigger when there are openings.

Add to that wrestling has changed so much over the years. Counter wrestling is so much better than it used to be. Rby won against Desanto because Desanto was trying to hard to get a takedown and forcing the issue. There is so much more video out there that’s it’s pretty easy how to teach counter wrestling it’s crazy. It’s easy to say that our coaches are failing or our wrestlers are but truth be told wrestling is not what it used to be.

Nope that’s not possible - you just need to coach them better😂. Try to stay off here (don’t post much anyway) once big 10s roll around but crazy to see some of the posts from “football“ fans or “true” wrestling fans. As with any year a couple negative surprises and a couple positive surprises but overall the tourney will end up about what was expected if hawks have a few wins today.

I’m guessing Penn state‘s board has some idiots or maybe they just show up here but good perspective from someone who gets it but I guess since you like wrestling, bourbon and blues you must be a good dude. TNT need to start with getting top 10/20 recruits and decide whether to be loyal to their guys or bring mercenaries in to fill holes. Staying healthy would be nice also.

If, make that when Warner wins tonight I’m pulling the cork from a Willets Rye or blantons. Saving the George T Stagg for a 4 timer next year.

Maybe a change in offseason philosophy, and definitely a new approach to S&C seems needed.

a dozen matches where we do not score a take down should be a lttle concerning I would think.

I'm a wrestling somewhat novice lol, but I enjoy. I do know from wealthy training requires recovery and saw some good changes championed by Louie Simmons of Westside Barbell for example.
If I had to guess I'd say Brands might push hard old school style and it worked great for Gable in the past prior to scholarship limits and when he got the best of the recruits .
Only a guess though, I don't know.

Pa. sucks for bourbon , 7-8 years ago I could find Blanton's on the shelf , no more. I can sometimes snag 1792, cheap but I like it. Usually Jefferson is available though.
