What a story, indeed. The steal of the draft.

The Fever, with pick #15, selected Celeste Taylor of Ohio State. They should have picked Kate. Instead, Vegas got Kate 3 picks later.

Comparing the 2:

* Celeste has appeared in ONE GAME (of the 8) and has played 4 minutes and has 1 assist and 1 turnover.

Kate has appeared in FOUR GAMES (of the 5) and has played an average of 21 minutes with an average of 6 pts, 4.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1/2 block.
Ouch. Kate is exactly what the fever need in the backcourt. I wonder if the fever didn't have her graded that high, or if they didn't want too much Iowa on the roster.

Just looking at their stats from last year it is advantage Martin in almost everything. She even has an inch on Celeste, seems like some overthinking happens in drafts.

As others have pointed out, they do not appear to draft very well, unless a no-brainer like Caitlin falls into their lap. If Martin was on the team they could cut at least 2 players like Hull, Berger, Celeste, and Wallace, although they would need at least one of them for depth.

Taylor was a 2x Conference DPOY and the Fever clearly need defensive help so I'm guessing that is why she was taken. Now they just need to figure out that a good defender doesn't really help you much if she's glued to the bench.

She must be a horrible shooter or Sides just doesn't have faith in her. Aside from Clark, I haven't seen anything from any other guard except for Mitchell which has impressed me from a scoring perspective.

Personal reasons?

This has nothing to do with any Erica Wheeler's personal problems, but I read yesterday that her contract makes her the highest (or one of the highest) paid WNBA players (I'm assuming excluding brand deals etc.). I'm not certain that she is good enough to even be on the Fever (worst team in the WNBA), and yet she has one of the highest contracts? Yikes this league is messed up.

Yes, it looks like a bad contract. She can't shoot and isn't particular careful with the ball. She is very athletic though, and could be useful breaking a press if Caitlin needs a rest or is in foul trouble. Otherwise, she should never take any of Caitlin's minutes, or Mitchell's for that matter.

Clark will be a coach. I don't think that's in the cards, however, for Kate, but then again never say never.

I actually think just the opposite. Kate has a great personality, temperament and understanding of the little things (the "glue") that it takes to be a team and win. She will relate to players and be able to motivate them. I think she will make an excellent coach. Caitlin on the other hand has a personality which allows her to be laser focused on perfecting her game, but I don't know that she has the temperament to relate as well to players who aren't able to perform at the level she performed at. Caitlin would obviously have the name recognition to help with recruiting, but I think otherwise coaching success may be more in Kate's future than Caitlin's. I see Caitlin more in the role of CEO of a sporting goods company or something.

What?! The Fever organization is dissing CC22 with this post! I'd tell them to not protect me and put me name in the explanation draft.

I've had enough of these a holes!

People also ask
What is considered stat padding?
In sports, stat padding is an action that improves a player's statistics despite being of little benefit to their team or its chance of winning.

Boylen had players punch in with time cards when going to practice. Sides is apparently having them do red light green light at practice. Lol. She is so in over her head

Curious if she'll beat his career win percentage of 31.2% before she gets fired but she has some work to do

(Ironically Boylen is back as an assistant.. with the Pacers)

Umm .... how come we're not freaking out about Temi Fagbenle being out 2-3 weeks?

I want y'all to freak out damnit! But seriously that SUCKS. She runs and is decent around the rim. Rest of the team is gonna have to tighten it up big time.

With multiple openings on the Iowa WBB coaching staff, I wonder if Jan promotes someone and then backfills an in season support role with Kate. Would be good for the team to have a WNBA player around and allow Kate to supplement her income without having to go overseas while also learning the coaching ropes and keeping conditioning up working with our team in the WNBA offseason.

The team is 1-7, I mean how much worse can they get?

Jesus Christ. Every damn game there are several of these 3-5 minute stretches when the Fever go to shit and end up down big.
