Let me say this, Caitlyn Clark is in for a big wakeup call in the WNBA. These aren't college players, they are all pros.
She has a big learning curve ahead of her. 🤣😅😅🤣

The first time you posted that Sides would be COY, I laughed. You’re on to something.
Remember just a couple month sago everyone felt she should be FIRED.
It just took a while for her and the team to figure out Caitlin's style of play to fit together.
Seeing the results now is eye opening compared to 2 months ago. IMO

It was just so obvious for us because we watched her play at Iowa for 4 years, we knew what worked with her style of play. Perhaps we should have considered that it would take some time for the rest of the team to catch up to her, not just the coach. It just didn't seem like they were heading that direction sometimes. At any rate, whether they were always trying to get here and they just hadn't adjusted or whether it took some time convincing the coaching staff and rest of the team that this fast pace, high flying style could work at the WNBA level they did eventually get there and we were right about one thing. The league wasn't going to be able to keep pace with her style of play.
Oh, and all those people who said "Clark fans don't understand basketball" can go eat a bag of dicks.
I still think she's questionable. The offense and defense have come around largely to simple familiarity.
I look at the blob, slob, and end of quarters more. They aren't real good here yet. Also, her use of players is very fran like. With that being said, unlike fran, she did at least replace the samuelson and wallace. Fran would have stuck to them like grim death.
One thing I have noticed after the Olympic break. Obviously not to the same volume, but I've seen both Mitchell and Boston make some pretty nifty passes for assists. It's almost like it's contagious.
They are running that back door cut for Mitchell with passers other than caitlin now. I think Boston is probably the only one who can make that pass consistently. As much as Smith drives me nuts with all of her brick jump shots, she also has the ability to finish at the rim with contact if they would start running that play for her as well as Mitchell. If they could have two quality backdoor cutters with two exceptional passers, they could do some serious damage with it while opening up other avenues on offense because other teams will have to respect it and defend it.
I absolutely remember. At the time I thought she was not a good coach as well. My how times have changed.
The crazy thing is that we are talking about the potential for them to “do serious damage” when the last three games they have put up 100, 100, and 93. Albeit against lesser competition, admittedly. Let’s see what they can do at home against the Lynx. Hoping they can hit the 90s again.
Sides has come a long ways. She has corrected her own mistakes - probably with a gun to her head.
Still, last night I noticed how often the Fever give up the baseline on defense. Lexie does it routinely. That would take five minutes to correct in practice. Last night LA scored at least 10 points because the Fever just gave them a path to the basket for a layup or foul. Moving your body 2-3 feet toward the baseline is not hard.

They really could be scoring between 105 an 110 a game if they are clicking on all cylinders and not turning the ball over.
Agreed. They need to bring in a new assistant coach who specializes in defense. If they tightened up their defense they would be TOUGH to beat for any team in the league.
I wonder if Sides consulted with Bluder on how to run a Caitlin Clark centric offense.
Thought had crossed my mind, but what she probably did was pick Cailtin's brain as to what she would want to see happen to maximize the offense, and listened to her.
Or missing an easy layup off of a Clark pass.
Wife (no pic) and I have noticed that pretty much to a player this is how the Fever have defended all season. It seems therefore as though it must be by design. The spider household just doesn’t get it.
