***Official Caitlin/Fever/Kate/Meg Games Mega Thread***

Honestly that is like the one thing that bothers me about Caitlin’s game. She almost always finishes with her right hand around the rim. For 99.9% of the female players in the world guarding her it doesn’t matter. But against the very best it can make a difference.
I think she is showing up the best already

Well, she is, but is it your contention she consistently finishes with her left hand when appropriate? Caitlin is 99.9% awesome, but there are things to improve on. She had her shot blocked a few times when I don't think it would have been if she used the correct hand. Then again, maybe she is so right-hand dominant that her finishing percentage would go down finishing with her left when going left. Either way she's obviously more than just fine. Just an observation.

Here is an article in the indy star today breaking down free agency needs. It is stuff we know: resign Kelsey, get Sabally if possible. What I found amusing was the statement that the Fever need a backup point guard that can play like Caitlin when she goes out of the game so the offense doesn't change. Well no shit, but there is not another female player on the planet that can do it.

"A backup point guard

Indiana did not have a backup point guard that worked similar to Caitlin Clark in 2024, and that changed Indiana’s offensive scheme a lot, sometimes mid-game.

Erica Wheeler, who was Indiana’s backup point guard last year, was more of a facilitator — she wasn’t a big scorer, and Indiana ran a more basic offensive scheme while she was running the point. While Clark was on the floor, Indiana played more fast-paced, with Clark distributing flashy passes and scoring heavily herself.

In 2025, Indiana needs to find a backup point guard that works more like their starter. Obviously, not very many players can replicate what Clark does, but finding someone who could facilitate that fast-paced offense would give Indiana more stability when Clark needs a break on the bench — and give Clark more opportunities to take those breaks without affecting the flow of the game."

Chennedy Carter is pretty talented and a good scorer. I wonder if it is possible for her mentally to come off the bench for the Fever to spell Clark and Mitchell, and not be a cancer in the locker room... With Stephanie White as coach, and caitlin and kelsey being stars, maybe?

The debut of the new women’s basketball league Unrivaled outpaced the average audience for non-Caitlin Clark WNBA games on cable last season.

In the debut of the new 3×3 women’s basketball league Unrivaled, TNT and truTV averaged a combined 313,000 viewers for Lunar Owls-Mist and 311,000 for Vinyl-Owls Friday night. The games rank as the most-watched women’s basketball telecasts ever on the TNT Sports networks, which have primarily carried only women’s college games. The previous high was set by a Colorado-LSU women’s college game in November 2023 (184K).

Viewership peaked at 364,000 in the 8:15 PM ET quarter-hour.

Excluding games involving Clark, who is not participating in Unrivaled, Friday’s doubleheader outpaced by nearly 50 percent the average WNBA game on cable during last year’s regular season (ESPN, ESPN2 and NBA TV), to say nothing of the NWSL or Pro Volleyball Federation.

Compared to other recent debuts, Unrivaled trailed the first TGL golf event on ESPN earlier this month (919K).

Notably, Unrivaled averaged more viewers on the TNT networks Friday night than the network’s NHL doubleheader did two nights earlier (292K). (Keep in mind the NHL doubleheader in question aired earlier than usual.)

Founded by WNBA players Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, Unrivaled is a 3×3 league featuring six teams of six players each. In addition to the two founders, the debut telecast included Chicago Sky F Angel Reese.

I have thought for a long time that college WBB and the W should not get out over their skis banking on a movement rather than a series of Caitlin moments, that hopefully last for a very long time. Some here have chastised me and others for being so arrogant, but the numbers are the numbers.

I think Carter is about the quickest fastest driving finishing guard I have ever seen, a great talent, but no thanks. There must be a reason she's been with multiple teams.

I helped a 90 year old friend celebrate her birthday today. As I walked in, I said, "Someone special has a birthday today!" Then I handed her a picture of Caitlin Clark, who turned 23 today.

I also handed June a collection of newspaper articles going back to the 1940s including one detailing her arrest. June pored over each article, bringing them to life.

This has to scare the hell out of other WNBA teams. Yes, she is not guarded in the video, but I am convinced that White will find ways to get more clean looks for CC, closer to the 3pt line. If the Fever get one more consistent scoring threat (via draft or free agency), it will be nearly impossible to double team or hedge toward CC and Mitchell. Also have to believe that Boston will continue to get better on that screen and roll.

I loved this:

“My goals for Caitlin, I just want her to just destroy everything," Keith Porter, the Fever's new player development coach, said in a recent interview with Rachel DeMita. "I want to give her the extra tools to where how teams used to play her, you can't do that anymore. You can't force her to take these shots. So now what do you do?

"I just want her to feel super comfortable in every scenario, every coverage, whatever it is, and just destroy teams."
