If money is the issue, then they wouldn't get jack sh*t in return if the team they trade him to took on the entire $40M. Cubs would have to swallow a majority of that in order to get a mid-high level prospect in return. Personally, I'm not ready to get rid of our most productive offensive player from the past 2-5 seasons with 3 gold gloves who is the only one in the organization with considerable MLB LF experience....no but the cubs have likely seen the best of his production now that hes 30. is he worth 40 million over the next 2 years? id say no and you can probably still get good value for him.
