If money is the issue, then they wouldn't get jack sh*t in return if the team they trade him to took on the entire $40M. Cubs would have to swallow a majority of that in order to get a mid-high level prospect in return. Personally, I'm not ready to get rid of our most productive offensive player from the past 2-5 seasons with 3 gold gloves who is the only one in the organization with considerable MLB LF experience....

Meh, he isn't in serious decline, and I am not sure many teams want to add payroll at this point. I am not sure what return you get for him in a player for player swap? He might not be worth as many gold gloves as he's won, but he's + at two positions. If the Cubs don't win this season it won't be because of him. He's a nice, complimentary piece.
