Next day. No arrest yet. The local TV station did mention the plea deal.

My take is the Feds don't have enough. If they had enough, they wouldn't need to cut a deal. Or maybe they have something minor, but want more. Either way, it's doubtful anything happens in the next few days.

But you must admit that there is a lot of smoke. And if there's a lot of smoke.....

Something “minor”? Bwahahahaha

I still won’t believe it until I see it either. Reports of him nailing over a dozen teenage and college age prostitutes and doing blow at wild parties will probably gain him followers and raise his status in today’s GOP and elevate his roll in congress. Not even joking.

Maybe they are taking a few days to verify what Greenberg told them? Keep in mind the Feds have been on Gaetz since last November, they are not known for working in haste while building a case. They have time on their side. They clearly are building a case against someone, otherwise they would not have cut a deal with Greenberg. And, from what I’ve seen Greenberg will plead to something that will give him ten years. That is significant.
What is most worrisome for Gaetz are the reports of a second cooperating witness.

I think federal prosecutors are good with patience and attention to detail.

CNN legal analyst Elie Honig on Monday went over some details in Greenberg's plea deal and said it all adds up to very bad news for Gaetz.

Honig started out by explaining that the nature of Greenberg's admitted crimes -- which will also include identity theft and wire fraud -- would normally make him a tough witness for prosecutors to rely on for testimony.

However, Honig said that prosecutors' willingness to use Greenberg leads him to believe that they have substantial documentary evidence that can back up his claims and overcome jurors' doubts about his personal honesty.

"There's a remarkable amount of detail in this document," Honig said. "First of all, sex trafficking of a minor, the lead charge here, the most serious charge. The document alleges that 'Greenberg and the minor met at hotels often with others' -- important language -- 'at which Greenberg and the minor engaged in commercial sex acts and Greenberg introduced the minor to other adult men who engaged in commercial sex acts.'"

Honig then noted that the document also contains references to text messages and phone calls in which Greenberg conversed with the minor about setting up sexual encounters with other adult men.

"The prosecutors are letting us know they have the goods," he said.

This is all dependent on the 17 year old. If she talks, and it’s true, he’s screwed.

If she doesn’t, all the corroborating evidence in the world — circumstances, payments, texts, and the testimony of a felon — probably isn't enough for the DOJ to indict a sitting Congressman.

Almost as much smoke as there was with Swalwell?
You had to go Trad, huh?
Why didn’t Barr’s DoJ investigate and go after Swalwell? Because it was a foreign oppo job. That’s why.

Trad follows what I do, you dummy. 😂
And whatever happens to Gaetz does not change the fact that Swalwell is ALSO a slime ball little twit.

My point is if they have all that evidence, they don't need to cut a deal. Maybe they have enough, and are just looking for a clincher, but if that's the case Greenberg isn't going to come off as being credible. Maybe they only cut a deal with Greenberg to avoid taking him to trial, and maybe getting more on Gaetz. There are transcripts of some of Greenberg's calls where he tried to suck other guys into his mess who were never involved.

Disclaimer: I'm usually the guy that doesn't jump to conclusions based on unnamed sources, but not this time. Gaetz's reputation is well know in the 1st Congressional District. He needs to go, and sooner is better.

The police should send social workers to apprehend him. If he runs, let him run. Then they can try to pick him up some other day.

That's actually a great idea. It would be very entertaining to watch him "running". Maybe it could end with him in the back of Bronco.

I haven't read all the posts so maybe someone has already pointed this out. Gaetz might not be the only person they're going after. I thought I read where Greenberg said he met with others, so I'm thinking there's some scared people out there.

You're probably right, but the media focus, and HROT focus, is all on Gaetz.

Hmm, by all accounts Swallwell did exactly what law enforcement would want and expect a person to do when they bring information to you like they did with him.
You mean he admitted he was stupid - and she didn't really love him long time? Good for him!!
