Oh look, another Trump/Musk policy that screws rural Americans

He gave what he promised, they didn't give what they promised in return. They altered the deal, and opened my eyes to reliance on government promises.
I get that the government reneged.

But you dad didn’t give 20 years of his life. He sold them. He was paid for the work.

Look. Sometimes life sucks. Sometimes a person is hit with a health problem where there are only experimental treatment options, options the insurance company did not even know of when rating.

There have to be limits to what a policy covers (which is a different thing from saying insurance companies aren’t sometimes wrong and even dishonest).
Like pre-existing conditions?

No one is talking about experimental procedures. These are decisions being made that override what physicians are recommending for the patient.

It doesn't have to be an emergency to go to the ER. You're suggesting that's where people go to get care they need if they can't pay for it.

Think a little more and you may start to see where you've gone completely bonkers on this topic.
Well, agreed, but if the procedure is not an emergency one, the ER is not going to provide it.

You can’t get an emergency mastectomy.

Yes, I do. I think only sex can hasten life.

And only the ailment, and lack of treatment, can hasten death.
So, in your world, a person's choice to smoke or not smoke has no impact on their lifespan. Whether a person has a surgery to clear heart blockage has no impact on their lifespan. You're completely irrational.

What is your solution for the person who has cancer and can't afford to pay for the treatment? Apparently it is to let them suffer and die. That's despicable.

But you can continue to go to the ER to get treatment for all the issues that arise because a mastectomy was denied. Who pays for that?

What you propose is not only deplorable from a humanity standpoint, it's one of the things that drives up costs of healthcare as it is. People going to the most expensive place they can to get treatment because there's no place else to go.

$192k what?
It's median net worth. He thinks that means someone can go to their bank and get a HELOC to play that $50K. He also expects that person to get the diagnosis and then go through the process of securing that loan prior to receiving treatment. Not to mention ignoring that, without insurance discounts, that price could easily be much higher. Or that this still leaves millions and millions without access to needed healthcare.

He's demonstrated that he cares only about himself which is bad enough but what he proposes will be more costly for those who can pay for it.

Awesome! Sell the house to pay your medical expenses.

F ‘em!

You have no clue.

There is a contract that people sign when they pledge their service to the country. They agree to this contract, both the government and the future employee.

They now all have tri care. And tri care has some of the worst doctors in their program. I saw what happened to my parents.

If I tell you I'll give you $10k for your car, is that 'loaded terminology'?

If you write back and say, "you'll give me $10k..." you're not clever, you're a dumbass.

You needed an advocate / or should have been one. I don't know a single person that hasn't gotten proper care under Tri-Care (separate from VA), that didn't get the care they needed. Sure, I don't doubt that it happens. But here is the key.....folks in the bed at a hospital can not be be their own advocates. That is when family needs to get involved

The oncologist that they had was great. It was the gp that was so bad.

I argued with my mother about her issues and she didn’t listen because that dude was a charmer.

I also think that it depends where you are and your gp. My brother has had a good experience and they sent him to Hopkins.

But here in Tallahassee, the retired vets don’t get good care.

Tennessee should do better. A ton of Vets there.

I'm going to make this my cause. Bullshit if some Vets are not getting the care they earned. If anyone has contacts with leaders anyplace across the country, Jimmy is throwing his hat in the ring to work for them on this issue

Jimmy, I went to all my mother’s doctors’ visits. I took notes on my iPad. Her gp grabbed my iPad out of my hands and said, “what are you typing?” He did not like me being there. I read him like a book.

Her oncologist thought it was a great idea and spoke to me specifically about her case. He got it.

Her GP and all the others had a huge practice in Southern Illinois. (Scott AFB). It was like a cattle call for all retired military outside of STL.

I don’t think any of them had great care, unless they went to STL for treatment.
My parents thought it was fine, but when others had issues, they went Barnes or STLU.

No, I do not believe this. Smoking very likely impacts lifespan. Clearing s blockage very likely impacts lifespan.

What doesn’t impact lifespan is who pays for the clearing.

If some sort of independent source rules that the insurance company is within the policy terms to deny, and the patient cannot pay, then I think there is no choice but to have the taxpayers pay.

See? Not despicable.

I'm done practicing, but even if I was, I couldn't help you as I'm not licensed in Tennessee. But, I think there is a legal ground to go on. Then again, keep scabbing wounds is not healthy either.
