Ohio State Is Going To Dismantle Us

Someone correct this stat for me if I’m wrong but hasn’t Iowa led or at least tied with osu at the end of the 3rd quarter the last 3 games vs osu? Not all under Urban but either in IC or Columbus. Shows Iowa can stick with osu. I hope we hang around long enough to take a lead in the 4th. It’s a long shot but it’s possible.

The current differential between Iowa and Ohio State is likely comparable to what it was back in '05 or '06. We got thumped in those games ... but compared to what Ohio State has done to most teams this season ... it wouldn't be THAT bad.

This is true. 2013 with Rudock was tied at the start of the 4th quarter. Buckeye fans were pretty quiet that day. The typical Buckeye fan complained how OSU always plays down to their competition. Rudock led the team down the field on the opening drive for a touchdown and the defense got a stop on their first series. Team was jacked on the sideline. Duzey ran the perfect wheel route and raced down the sideline. Lots of three tight end sets that day and guarantee Urban will be on the lookout for that. No one on their defense today was there for that. Hopefully we can do some of the same this week and send Brady Ross or Drake Kulick for a fullback wheel route as a nice variation this time around.

Realistically speaking: what score spread will this board consider a moral victory. (1) Less points than the Ohio St-Nebraska spread. (2) Three TD's (3) Two TD's (4) Less.

2004 Iowa beat # 25 OSU 33-7
2005 OSU beat Iowa 31-6
2006 # 1 OSU Beat Iowa 38-17
2009 # 11 OSU beat Iowa in OT 27-24 JVB made his 1st start
I doubt that OSU Beats Iowa has badly as some think, also the RSSR's were part of that 2013 team that went into the 4th quarter tied 24-24. this team is in far better shape than that 2013 team.

As an OSU fan, what gives me hope against teams in which the Buckeyes are an underdog, and concerns me when they play as a favorite— you don’t need to be a better team to win, just a better team that day.

Very true. While I fully realize OSU fans aren't sitting around worried about a team like Iowa, if you recall past Iowa teams you'd probably think of a tough running game and a Tressel-like ball control offense. We wish we had that this year. Instead, we can't run the ball much and have to rely on chunk passing plays to move down the field. It is frustrating because it seems like the staff keeps trying to run anyway (I know we have to do some to keep defenses honest) and then our WRs and TEs drop a lot of passes.

I guess in a nutshell I'd say THIS Iowa team is not a "typical" Iowa team. Then again, the last pass first Hawkeye team was 2004! Too bad it isn't the 2004 OSU team coming Saturday...

Now that OSU is ranked 6th on the college football playoff pole that just came out they need to impress the committee so look for them to run up the score. Listening to Glen Mason on the BTN, he said Iowa is not very good so I guess that means OSU 62 Iowa 10.

Good. Bring it.

I love the seasons we are written off.

Bring in an OSU team believing they are going to run up the score.

It’s gonna be OSU 28 Iowa 0 by the half
And then Urban is gonna send in all the walkons and then we will score 7 pts
Final score OSU 56 Iowa 10

....so we's score 7 points against the walk-ons but the final score is 10?

Yep....math checks out.

So what's different now than the last century or the next century. Ohio State will always have much more talent than Iowa. I can remember a year when HF was in his prime at Iowa that the coach from Ohio St pulled the dogs off at half or it could have ended up 90--0. That Ohio coach was fired because he just didn't win as much as was expected.
I can remember 1987 when Marv Cook bulled his way across the goal line at the end of the game for a Hawkeye victory in the Horseshoe. The Hawkeyes have a chance Saturday to win. I will be watching and hoping for a victory.

Not as worried about humility as I am about honesty. I'd much rather Iowa have a respectable team, so OSU was playing a competitive program this week like Iowa State. Hopefully things get turned around, so this game isn't such a bore any longer.

Typical arrogant osu fan.

Scared of the Big 12 are we?

Home loss to Texas 2005
Home loss to Oklahoma 2017
You now want to tempt fate and land the Cyclones in a Bowl Game? I'm sure you can beat them, just remember you have to score points this time.

I mean, I know you're responding to a jackass, but Texas in 2006, Oklahoma in 2016, 10 straight wins vs. the Big 12 before that 2005 game, 5-1 vs. Big 12 in bowl games...

I figured OSU is only a 16 point favorite because Vegas assumed the third stringers would play. Can see this one getting out of hand early.

Looks like you were half way right LOL. Where are you at now BucksNLions??? Probably got your mouth full of crow right now. How does it feel to see your team get curb stomped? Most points scored on Meyer in his CAREER. Damn, that's gotta hurt. I would hope you would have the balls to come back here and congratulate the Hawks on the ass kicking (and maybe you have and I didn't see it) but more likely you were too busy making your cheeto run for the OSU chapter of trolls party last night. Head on back to Columbus now...

He isn't a Buckeye. He's an ISU poser. Read his threads carefully, you'll see what I mean.

Hey yah big pussy can you at least admit your from Ames yah freaking poser.
Haha, so he' either a Bucknut fan or Clone fan.. either way he got beat by the Hawks this year. Maybe he'll be back to eat crow. If not, hopefully the door hit him in the vagina on the way out.

I've come to say, "I stand corrected." So I'm 1 for 2 between Michigan last year and Ohio State this year.

I have a new theory about Ferentz and game preparation which I'll share later when I have time. I think it somewhat explains why we lose to Purdue at home but blow out Nebraska, in Lincoln, the week later in Lincoln.
