OMG AUBURN GETTING HOSED!

If you look on Twitter. Right before the non double dribble call you can see a picture of the Auburn guy yanking on the Virginia’s players jersey. It’s blatant as hell.

I can’t find a pic to link.

Nothing is gonna change, obviously.

Nevertheless, please watch this video. I can see why the ref might have missed the very split second jersey grab.

However, the missed double dribble? That's inexcusable. The refs have one job and part of that is to know what a double dribble is.

Watch:

I'm in the minority, but the foul on Guy was a foul, and I have no sympathy for the blown double dribble when Auburn's own players didn't react to it, not to mention the straight-armed hand check into the dribbler.

Auburn had a 4 point lead with 12 seconds left. IMO you foul their worst FT shooter in that spot and take your chances. Instead, they gave Virginia two 3-point attempts for 6pts. It didn't even go to OT. Just like Iowa vs Nebraska, play stupid games win stupid prizes.

The foul call wasn’t ticky tack. It was a clear foul. Refs shouldn’t swallow their whistle just because it is the last second.
My guess is the players are taught to play D like that because the coaches assume nothing will be called.

Auburn could have, should have lost its first NCAA game. They fouled the 3-point shooter with less than two seconds left (sound familiar?), but the kid only made one of three that time. Then Auburn lost the rebound out of bounds and lucked out again when a game-winning three-pointer missed,

Oh, and BTW: Where are all those folks who never tire of telling everyone that officials don't cost teams games? The evidence continues to mount that, in fact, officials DO cost teams games, even in the NCAA tournament. But no tears for Auburn. Sorry.

And yes, the double-dribble happened, in the middle of the floor, yet three officials choked on their whistles. But that's the way it goes. Gotta play through it, right? It all evens out . . .

If the officials were perfect they would have called the jersey grab. If You going to roll history back keep going.

Skimmed quickly through other posts. My two cents: Overall, I thought this game was officiated very well. The foul on the 3-pt shot was clearly a foul (not debatable) and the official had stones to call it. I don't agree with those who think the game should be officiated differently in the last few seconds. The double dribble was missed by EVERYONE (players, officials, announcers, fans, me...) until someone discovered it later, to give everyone something to talk about. On the play, I personally thought the Auburn player fouled the Virginia player by bumping him, which is a big reason why he lost control of the ball, especially considering Auburn was trying to foul. Auburn is among the biggest cheaters in college sports, so no sympathy here.

Aside, in the MSU-Tt game, how the hell does Bo Boroski get to officiate a Final Four Game? Wow!

This did not look good. If it was anyone but Auburn, it probably doesn't get called... I don't think the NCAA wanted a future probation team in the finals.

Bruce Pearl & Auburn will have all of their wins vacated for at least this season. I'll bet the house on that. Any takers??

He did bump him. It's a foul. I just can't believe they called it.

The foul was definitely a foul. Why wouldn’t you call it? Never foul a three point shooter. You must come down in same spot you leave the floor. No one knew of the double dribble until they were told about it later. The ref couldn't see if it got touched by defender or not from his angle. There were other missed calls as there always are throughout the game.

o boy just what we need more conspiracy bullshit

Oh, yeah, there is no doubt in my mind that Auburn will eventually have this season's wins vacated. I think it's just a matter of time.

As for the double dribble, the ref simply blew the call, the ref was in perfect position to make any call. He simply blew it. It happens.

they dont . the double dribble was not called and they still would have won the game if they dont foul guy on the 3 pter . bitch about the double dribble all you want but the shirt grab should have been called before it , so yeah things did even out .

it was a foul. but lets face it. in football and basketball, refs historically have swallowed their whistles at the end of games.
