I think he genuinely loves the Hawks and wants to build a winner here.

The Big East is soon going to be flush with NIL and rev-share cash they don't have to split with big time football like the Big Ten, SEC, etc.

It’s kind of an open secret that he’s clashing with the athletic department (whose AD just left to go to SMU this month) over allocations to a crappy football team vs a much more successful bball team.
Guess he doesn't understand revenue generation, or just sees a path to a better BB revenue situation.
The revenue figures seem fairly close for Villanova and Iowa men's basketball if Carver gets back to being nearly filled up, which speaks to the hefty media rights money B1G teams receive.
If you look at the figures from AI, Villanova MBB only netting a couple milion profit from MBB to share with players as NIL. Do they have some type of NIL ticket surcharges? I don't know, but their expenses seem high.
AI says that Villanova MBB is only making $2million profit, so unless they are operating at a loss, I don't think they can exceed B1G revenue sharing which is supposed to be around $3.5 million per school, though each school can choose higher or lower for MBB.
Villanova might do a lot better in donated NIL than Iowa,. I get not much NIL to football, however not much Football revenue coming in either for Villanova. Football is a profit center for AD.

Dropped all the way to a team that has 2 national championships (2016 and 2018) plus another Final 4 in 2022. Basketball is king at Villanova. He’s been telling the Athletic Department and AD to get their NIL fixed or he was gone.
Probably not a bad idea to move every 5-6 years before the posse comes for you.
