Anyone care to rethink their criticism of Iowa's much maligned "moral victories" vs. #14 Michigan and #3 ISU?

Purdue and Ohio State fans must be livid. And #20 Wisconsin held off Butler today to break the Badgers' 3-game losing streak.

Just thought I'd mention it.

That's a hard nope from me, dawg.

Not when the fixes that would have turned those losses into wins are so easy to do, yet ignored game after game.

And Illinois loses in the last minute to a highly rated team on their floor. Sound familiar? I suppose the Orange Crush basketball forums are ripe with demands that Underwood be fired and the whole team replaced. OMG, how could they allow anyone come to their arena and beat them?

How many sweet 16s has Fran had in 15 years, when did Iowa lose on last second drive as the Clones imposed their will down the stretch

Do you really think Illinioi's situation (coming off an Elite8) is comparable to Iowa's situation?

How other teams do is irrelevant to the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Thanks for the insight. I didn't realize Iowa was operating in a vacuum. Good to know. Context doesn't matter. That other teams are doing the same or worse than Iowa doesn't matter. That, to name one, Ohio State has lost a couple games by 40 points or so doesn't matter. Again, good to know.

No, it's not comparable. Illinois losing is much worse, because Illinois is coming off an Elite 8 and is supposed to be invincible at home. None of that is true of Iowa, yet many Hawkeye fans are criticizing Iowa because they led the #3 team in the country for 37 minutes. Not comparable at all.

Not sure why you’re so salty over all this. I think the majority of people (not all clearly) think the Hawks played well the other night. I also think it’s ok to be frustrated watching our rivals in Ames being a top 5 team. It really doesn’t make me feel any better that Ohio State sucks. Or that the Big Ten kind of sucks as a whole. With that being the case it would be great to have a team that could take advantage of that.

I don't think most of the Iowa's boad's criticism of losing to ISU is based on the ISU game result. I would agree the efforts vs Michigan and ISU were better than expected---moral victories that would be nice if it were year 1- 3 of Fran, not year 15.

The posts complaining about ISU loss are rooted in seeing ISU, a fellow in-state program with the same recruiting disadvantages that is in much better shape.

Whether the post about Illiniois fans calling for Underwood's firing is an exaggeration or not, it only highlights that Iowa fans have a less to be happy about because Underwood is coming off an Elite8 appearance and Fran is not.

Glad I could educate you.

How many moral victory threads is this guy gonna start?

Purdue played in the national championship game a year ago. Wisconsin also has a pretty strong track record the past couple of decades. I don't think using them to make a point about Iowa really works... Those programs have probably earned some good will from their fans.

And no, pointing out that some other programs are struggling or lost a close game doesn't make me any less jaded about this program's lack of success.

Ohio State fans should probably also be pissed.
