Wont hire an agent, so technically he could return to school before the draft. Seems unlikely though. He has a lot of potential.

Swanigan has tons of talent, but I think he could use another year to improve his basketball IQ. Saw him take a bunch of dumb shots last year at the worst possible times. That said, I hope he leaves. Anything to damage our most hated rival.

He has a pro body who could be a good big man in the pros. I agree he took some bonehead shots this year. But he also has the ability to step out and hit the 3 which is huge in the Pro game. I assume if does go, he will spend a few years in Europe.

Actually I take back what I said- he's currently ranked as the 28th best PF prospect in the draft. I think he sank quite a bit this year and bet he stays, barring any weirdness with academics (i.e. not going to class since he anticipated leaving post-freshman year)

I think he has great potential but needs another year of work and experience (at least) before going pro....and it's good for Iowa if he goes now.

Yep another guy that will be lucky if he ends up in the D League......which is littered with All-Conference players.

You will see almost anybody with any, no matter how slim, pro aspirations, enter their names in this year under the new rules. They can participate in the combine and now have up to 10 days after the combine to withdraw without penalty (May 25th is withdrawal deadline now). They can participate in the combine and even do one team workout without penalty. They can also do this more than one year now as well. I think it's a good rule for the players, the NCAA, and NBA. Every borderline first round pick absolutely should do this, as should most borderline 2nd rounders.

I agree and maybe it's not as certain as I assumed. It is a bit unique considering his guardian is a pro agent. Not sure if that would have any effect on anything.

I think it was assumed last year he would be a one-and-done. He certainly has the pro body, pro athleticism and the pro skill set in development. Seems NBA GM's value that potential over a guy like Uthoff who is 4 years older and a lot closer to his max.

So they would lose Hammons, Swanigan and best perimeter defender, Davis. And still no good point guard. I'll take that.

You can improve on an NBA roster or in the d league. Probably more than in school "improving your stock." 3-4 year guys in the big ten have ünderwhelmed in the nba.

He did have his moments where he was very good but also had huh freshman moments. But like you and selfishly I hope he goes pro for the Hawks benefit.

It makes sense for him and really every borderline pro prospect to get evaluated by the NBA with the new rule. He most likely won't get a high enough grade to warrant opting out for the draft in my opinion.
