OT - Thoughts on Zalesky?

He was a pretty good wrestler for you guys, won a couple championships as your coach, then was supposedly forced out for Brands.

Seriously, not trying to troll you guys or suggest he should still be your coach, just interested in your thoughts on his coaching style, recruiting, etc.

My personal opinion is that Brands is a slightly better coach but, more importantly, Gable had a much better rapport with Brands, so Zalesky was a goner.

Jim Zalesky is one of the greatest Hawkeye wrestlers ever, maybe even a better guy and possibly one of the best assistant coaches ever.

Brands was building quickly at VT. Zalesky though he was agreat Hawk and good guy hasnt done much at Oregon St. I think We are much better off with Brands considering the changing time. If Zalesky was a great head coach he would be making waves elswhere.

He was forced out by his poor coaching performance. Great wrestler, was a fine assistant but was trending south. He has been so so at best at OSU and they have been really down lately.

He’s an ok coach. Probably the best Oregon State can hope to get. But anyone who thinks Iowa isn’t active or tough now go back to Zalesky’s last season or two. Yikes.
