So Lard and now THT. Wonder if WIgginton will test the waters this year too.
Basically these kids get a forum for displaying their talents while they get fed and coddled until they are draft-eligible. If you allowed them to just declare out of HS it would end this charade. But once they declare and hire an agent, do NOT allow them to play NCAA basketball on any level!
So you're saying, with LW leaving too, that losing 5 of your top 7 from a team with 12 losses would still be good? I'd be scared to death of next year. Hell I'm nervous how Iowa would perform with the departure of Cook alone.Best of luck to Talen. Never expected him to be in Ames for 4 years - was hoping for 2. Hard to argue with his decision IF he is a 1st rounder- that is life changing money.
ISU-wise, things now key on Wigginton. Like THT, I get why he would leave ($$$). With no LW and THT, they still have the pieces to be good. The "addition by subtraction" theory applies here. Depth is fine, but sometimes I think it's better to have a solid 7-8 guys. If LW stays (I think and hope he will), he "could" average 20+ and be "the guy". They have a couple of new guys who will have to play bigger roles now.
Time will tell.
I'm still happy Duke and Kentucky lost yesterday.
I never get too worked up over Player A or Player B leaving. Players come and go. People never thought ISU would survive losing Ejim, or Niang, or Morris - but they did.
If LW stays, they have:
Nixon
Wigginton
Haliburton
Jacobsen
Conditt
Without Wigginton:
Substitute Terrence Lewis or Zion Griffin or a freshman or grad transfer.
ISU will be fine
I would expect several replacements to be found. This kid's highlight video is pretty impressive though.Dont worry about little brother, they are in on a replacement.

Amazing today both Horton Tucker and Nassir Little of UNC turn pro but one could argue they aren't even the top 2 or 3 players on their teams this year. But that's what NBA draft is all about anymore the potential of these young guys.
Where you can't blame either for turning pro, strike while the iron is hot and get that guaranteed contract. One example I always think of as a cautionary tale is Melo Trimble from Maryland. Projected as a late 1st rd pick as a freshman comes back and has a poor sophomore year. Plays his junior then finally leaves and never sniffs the NBA.
i am sick of these nba wannabees. lets have a team of people who want to be here. banned at the worst time what a meltdown for cyclone basketball. cf is suprisingly quiet, i think the constant meltdowns during the season over there took a toll on people as possibly doom was sensed on the horizon. hopefully prohm finally works some magic next year. hes got some parts and has 3 post players that are servicable. nixon will have to point because i am penciling wigg gone. and unless he wants to come back and win as a team he is better off gone. ive been back on the prohm wagon since the day of the bannin and still am.
Wigginton is as good as gone, IMO.
Another rebuild for Prohm next year.
I believe you can hire an agent and still come back this year. I think Wigginton wants to 100% leave but will not hear what he wants to hear from the NBA folk. Not sure what he will decide to do.Wigginton will be back he wants to be a first round pick and has said he does not want to be in the D league.
He will declare not hire an agent be told to go back and work on things

The wording of the THT statement looks to me like he's gone, period, the end. It's kinda ironic, because while he's seen by most of the projections as a first rounder, his playing time lessened as the season progressed. He frequently wasn't on the floor at crunch time. Are they declaring or looking to transfer to, I don’t know, Hoiberg?

Not saying I'm happy he's leaving; I wish he'd stay. But it's a reflection of the times vis-a-vis the NBA.
LOL!!!Smart move by THT considering how much Wigginton and Lard regressed from year 1 to year 2 under Prohm.
I hate ISU athletics, but I'd tell you they'll be just fine. They'll land a game-changing transfer or two and off to the races it will be for another B12 *TOURNEY* title in Kansas City.
LOL!!!
Honestly, seemed like they both regressed. Hell, it seemed like Babb got worse too.LOL!!!
This guy thinks it’s hilarious when his PG is benched and regresses in every meaningful category.
statistically speaking, he was better this year than last year.
