Our regular dive bar and grill started using POS devices for their waitstaff.

No kidding. I can see swinging for the fences with one or two of the choices but 20% should be in the team picture.
Why not try? I'd bet 2/3 of the people always just click on a button and go without even thinking.

And often the button on the left I would guess. Rearranging the options is kind of sinister.
It is getting ridiculous. Took the family to the OP in downtown CF yesterday when there to visit relatives, and the prepopulated amounts with 20%, 25%, and 30% IIRC. Is 15% not a thing anymore? I mean, the service was fine, but 20% used to be reserved to exceptional service.
I like it when you order at the counter and the video screen asks for a tip with 20% being the low option.

OP bought $34 worth of beer, $10 worth of wings, and $6 worth of soup (wife, no pics). And tipped 20% (on the whole bill including tax) like a regular person.
Since you tip as a percentage and not as a flat fee, increased prices means increased tips. I guess I just don't get why the percentage keeps going up. Can we expect to be tipping 100% of the bill at some point off in the future?
I’ve never been to a dive bar & grill. I’ve been to plenty of dive bars, but I would never order food from a place that’s considered a dive. Are you sure said dive B&G is actually a dive? I’m guessing by the POS devices you mentioned that the establishment doesn’t consider themselves in the dive category. Perhaps it’s more of a ma n pa establishment with lower prices but good service.
Have you never been to Tornadoes in CR? Back in the day it was a dive bar and an awesome menu. Burgers were fantastic. I haven’t been in a few years at least, but it was redone and no longer what I would consider a dive bar.
Use cash for the tip with no tip on the pos. Or pay cash for all. Not hard.

these days even most stores do this...swipe/touch the cc to pay and multiple options to donate...fat finger the touchscreen and you are out a few extra bucks when you came in just to pick up a carton of eggs
